Action Maps V3 - even better control layot (yet)
« on: September 14, 2015, 03:07:20 PM »
Since some time now I've been playing harassing across this community  ::)...
I had some issues, solved some, then some more...
here is the great humble result of my work fun.

Feel free to try, report or request improvements
newly updated support video guide
and the PDF for those impatient

Credits:
The work derived here is based on previous work, namely:
MW:LL developers, Starchi1d's published material, Cuban-Ultima-Doom-Assassin47-Taowolf-Sword's Custom Crysis Configs and respectable others i fail to remember

P.S. don't read any readme files  ;)

P.P.S best applied with 7zip archive manager (use F9 ;) dual pane view )
the new file attached :)

re-updated for 0.8.3 release

Gawd, it's a bit messy. Also, delete Attributes.xml and Profile.xml as soon as possible from the archive!
Giving these files would not let people who download them to play together, cause they would have the same Gamespy ID.

Does this make You happy?
Yes

[snip]
A-ha!
 :o
here You go "i know better than You"
of course they will have the same ID and the password would be same ("qtracker")  :-\
it was intended to be so  :)
from the developers ;)
who am I to judge em?
I just do as they did?
why would it bother You?  ::)
and be it known:
People playing together with the same ID (player nick) get index in parentheses
like:
MechWarrior (1)
 ::)
this bug is squished long time now...
once made a custom fresh profile, they can easy copy the files and edit them to their delight?

Learn the difference between Gamespy ID and in-game nickname before telling around who knows more than who, here  ;)

Do you know at least that they are different things?

it's put up or shut up now on:
extract said attribute from my files and name the line and file of mine You got it from.
otherwise come here and write "my bad"

Or I never consider You a grownup any more  8)

First: you still didn't answer my question.

it's put up or shut up now on:

otherwise come here and write "my bad"

Or I never consider You a grownup any more  8)

Second: here is my answer to your question.

Third: If you actually know how these things work, then you can explain us what do these highlighted lines mean, and what would happen if more than one player who are using this file (which you are distributing) would connect to the same server :)

If not, then kindly shut your mouth, please! Thanks!

due to relentless efforts of some community members I've been put to right.

so i post the login-name- and password-stripped files

those files apparently generate a unique ID on the server side, allowing a player to retain rank across disconnects.

The nick-name and profile name are apparently one and same thing independent of the login-name and password.

I guess i could distribute the password (it's "qtarcker") but i was too tired  ::) for another rant.

if anyone want's it i guess i could include it in a further release? ;)

OTOH on the login name i admit i was wrong, so I correct myself by replacing the file(s) in question with appropriate ones.

The users are left the options to auto login and keep password as they wish.

So yes i know the difference,
and yes i made a mistake (that's why i ask for test/reports in the 1st place)
And no You where not 100% right, but point taken, at least at my side.

happy now? :-\

NOT-SO-CORRECT

Captain here:

Nickname: name of the folder in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Crysis Wars\Profiles\[nick_name]
It's just the nickname that shows up in the scoreboard.
It's actually set in "profile.xml" file inside that folder, though the client automatically changes it while reading the name of that folder
If 2 players with the same nickname connect to the same server, the server just changes the nickname of the last one who connected

Gamespy Login ID: the unique ID which is needed for the account validation
This ID used to be sent by the game client to the Gamespy Masterserver for account validation. That's why we need the magic Gamespy hostfile fix.
It is also sent to the game server, and it uses it as a unique ID for players
This is set in "attributes.xml", but...
If 2 players with the same Gamespy Login ID connect to the same server, then the last player who connects gets Authentication Failed (3) error.
Actually this won't happen if you use Bruno's tool, because it makes the game generate a random ID before connecting.

That's why it makes no sense at all to change these 2 files.

And since Bruno_007's (excellent) tool has not implemented password (yet) for locked game servers, there we still need the user login/password for a while  ::)

Captain,
of an floating ship, i presume?

Actually you can, but it's not as easy as just clicking on a server and putting a password, so yeah.

No, Lance Captain, as you can see...

question is:

- shall I keep the current voice? :-\
- shall I revert back to the "thinner" voice?
- would anyone volunteer to readout the files and send me the recorded wav/mp3 files?
 ???

Re: Action Maps V3 - even better control layot (CONTEST)
« Reply #14 on: September 21, 2015, 09:45:54 AM »
CONTEST
we're hiring*
*-volunteers

this won't be easy day:
I posted here the sources for generating the speech.

The whole process is like this:
1. I was satisfied with the state of the KeyMaps file - the aim was to use least keys and get most game controls covered.
2. I created the overall KeyMap Map layout and decided the color keys for the various groups. (the image posted before ::))

3. Therefrom i created the key group images and added hints and some backdrops... (to be posted yet)

4. Then i designed the text files to be read while viewing each key group image 8) (i post now)

5. Then i generated the script that harness the "power of my system" to :o transcode :o text and those png images to the initial video only few lucky ones had a chance to enjoy (not more available :-\)

6. Then (is there ever an end? ???) i ripped the sound of it  :o (but why, You ask? -read on, read on...)

7. By means of Audacity i mixed the ripped soundtrack with the "Marauder" theme of Timothy Seals great album  ;D, in a way i found most convenient  ;)

8. Finally i glued the enhanced audio back to the video and posted on Youtube for all to use

However,
some members liked it  :o :-\
And understand my urge to have an human (<- see? link kaput ;) )reader actor.

This way we could add:
1. Convenience
2. Drama
3. Even MOAR coolness  8)

So we need:
1. A few volunteers to read the sources, posted here, privately
2. Figure their best way to read them into an MP3 file of any properties
3. Devise the best act to read the files in
4. Do so and post the result to me either PM on forum or privately (who know my email) (it's to be asked for by PM)
5. Multiple works per contestant are accepted
6.  After a week i will close the contest and review results

Rules:
prohibited:
-swearing
-bad language
-profanity
-mix of styles

allowed
- fun/humor styled act
- tensioned act (front lines style)
- bored tone act (clerk style)
- airport/train-station style (dehumanized human speech)
- officer style (humiliating act with comments (allowed within limits of any good taste)

You get the point  ;)

I can accept:
1. Wav (too big but let's be it)
2. MP3
3. OGG
4. MP4 (off an phone)
5. AVI (off other phones)
but if any choice, be it MP3 please  8)
