it is a superb 4X game set in space.
i am just mayorly too stupid for it <.<
'any kind of discussion of randomness ALWAYS WILL EQUATE to being able to critically hit a mech's reactor by firing a micro beam laser while facing 80 degrees to the side, shooting the ground, which would cause a random explosion which would randomly crit his entire team's reactors which would randomly cause the server itself to explode which would randomly generate a strange quark which would randomly hit the earth and randomly randomness randomfapp the shit fapp random!'

I'm just too god damn lazy to learn x4 games outside of civilization.

I load it up, look at the tech tree, and nope right out of it.
Particularly the space ones are hard for me to get into, something about the maps in civilization connect me more to the game than the space ones where i get one planet and a bunch of text telling me what the planet is like.

I see cattle along that river, ooo i want that cattle! I read about some xenoargriculture upgrade on the seventh planet of system x352 and im just like... ok....

you may not have that problem with stellaris .. there is no classic tech tree.
which is part of my problem <.<
basically, you get a set of tech cards from a deck more or less randomly offered that you can research.

yes, i get that complete alien stuff and what to do with it . .

as for Civ.
The civ6 Trailer looked awesome. But the in game stuff looks and sounds highly querstionable to me <.<
Sadly, Civ BE sucked. Probably because of the reasons you gave for not liking space 4x games in the first place.
