"Please insert disc" prompts
« on: July 31, 2016, 09:34:08 PM »
I have an intermittent issue where sometimes upon server join or map switch, I get a background prompt from Crysis to insert a disc into a drive. I have to cancel this prompt multiple times (sometimes 3, sometimes 20) before the game resumes loading. This appears unrelated to the CD Key problems of old. Anyone else encountered this?

I'm sure there's somebody around here that can help you better than I can, but I figure they'll want some of this info:

What kind of install do you have? Is it the demo crysis wars? Is it the Steam version? Did you install it from CD?

One way to fix it might be to download Alcohol or Deamon tools or something like that and then download a CD ISO of Crysis Wars and mount it to a virtual CD drive.

See who is playing MWLL right now, without having to start the game: http://stats.spikx.net/mwll.html

I get this now and again. I am using a manual install of crysis wars from a retail copy of crysis warhead, on a windows vista 64 bit PC. I had a HDD error over a year ago that required a reinstall and this issue still sometimes pops up.

It is only very occasional and I am fairly sure it only happens with a couple of the standard maps. I just keep OK-ing it (usually 3 times) and it goes away and doesn't come back again for ages. It doesn't stop the game working for me.

Yeah, that's the problem. I never managed to get MWLL working properly on Windows Vista 64
Never had any problems on 64 bit editions of 7, 8, 8.1 nor Windows 10. Windows Vista 32 worked as well

@deathlord, are you running Windows Vista 64 too?

Windows 10 x64. I've previously had Crysis Warhead installed from Steam, but that had been removed prior to installing MWLL.

you could try this, but I can't guarantee that it will work.

1 - uninstall Crysis wars and MWLL

2 - delete Crysis wars keys from the registry (regedit)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\Crysis Wars
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node\Crytek\Crysis Wars

3 - reinstall MWLL from CJW installer
