I downloaded the 0.8 MWLL archive only here:

I unzipped it into my \Crysis Wars\mods folder

I ran the launcher and loaded the game.  It said, "Warning, I have modified files," then dumped me to the desktop.

What gives?  Why didn't it work?  MW:LL ran fine before on the older version.  What's wrong with this patch?  I appreciate all ya'll have done but frankly don't know what to do next.  This should simply work, right?  I'm quite jaded due to PGI, so I've little effort to give.  But I'd love to play some MW:LL.  Please help.  :)  Please?

Getting modified files on loading the first game after install is a bug that got in and will be fixed in 8.1 - simply start and connect again! :)

What bug by the way? The only issue I ran into was a permissions issue. After extracting the map zip it was getting permissions denied when attempting to move it to the game dir. Running as Administrator works around that.

   - MWLL Online Launcher (LAN UDP Forwarder) - evolution of past "Le Proof of Concepto" project: connect without Gamespy via packet redirection;
   - Vehicle Browser - "Pocket Wiki" ©okaolias (not really that though);
   - Rconnect 4.3 - Server tools: map manager/player voting add-ons;
   - CryHammer - Validates Patch/CDKey of Crysis Wars (now unable to validate CDKey due to turned off Gamespy servers).

If you fix the permissions on the dirs to the game can download the custom maps, after they download you'll get an error that your game files have changed and have to restart mwll

Maybe you need to do better reactor core maintenance so the radiation doesn't corrupt your game files. :)

Some players consistently run into "modified files" errors after map downloads. It works after restarting the game, but in order to not chase away all our newcomers, custom maps are disabled until this is fixed.
