Reference list for newbies on what to buy
« on: November 10, 2016, 09:31:41 PM »
Hello, as I've seen plenty of newbies in game asking what to buy next, or just buying the wrong asset for the wrong time, here are some observations I've made concerning the most recent patch (0.8 0.8.2) and asset choices for some common money brackets.
I'll be referencing assets by the variant name and i'll divide the suggested assets between A (assets which you can't go wrong with) and B (situational assets, things can go wrong if the stars don't align).
Note that the patch is very fresh and I haven't got to experience most of the assets in game yet. I'm only listing my favourites. This does not close out unlisted assets as not viable!
I've also tried to list the assets from the most expensive to the least expensive in each category.

And of course if you have questions about why i've listed something in A or B categories, feel free to shoot. And other vets, give us your tips too!

-43k(Starting cash)
A:
-Uller E(Longrange)/F
-Osiris Prime/A
-Solitaire Prime/E
-Harasser Prime

B:
-Osiris F
-Chevalier C/G
-Owens Prime/E/G
-Solitaire D

-<60k
A:
-Cougar Prime
-Uziel C
-Chimera E
-Uller C

B:
-Bushwacker F
-Hollander B/E
-Partisan G
-Puma C
-Cougar E
-Uller A/G

-<80k
A:
-Bushwacker A/B/G
-Black Lanner B
-Uller C Money farm no longer a thing that much and not worth it.

B:
-Shadowcat A/B/C/G
-Black Lanner A/G
-Epona Prime/C/D Trash overall unless its IvoryTower/Harvest
-Warhammer B
-Rifleman A
-Hollander II A/B

-<100k Assets
A:
-Thanatos A
-Novacat C
-Vulture A
-Avatar B
-Warhammer E
-Ryoken Prime/A/D/G
-Demolisher Prime/B(close range only)
-Morrigu D

B:
-Awesome G
-Thor A/B/D
-Loki B
-Thanatos D/G
-Vulture B/C
-Avatar E/F
-Ryoken B

-Everything over 100k (I'll split this between Assaults and Heavies)

Heavies;
A:
-Madcat B/D/E/G
-Novacat A/F

B:
-Madcat Prime/A/C
-Novacat Prime/E
-Thor E
-Loki D

Assaults;
A:
-Daishi A/B/D/E
-Fafnir Prime/A/E
-Bloodasp Prime/E
-Madcat MKII Prime/D
-Atlas B

B:
-Daishi Prime/D/C
-Fafnir C
-Madcat MKII A/B/C/E/F/G
-Masakari A/C
-Atlas A
-Mauler C/E

Potato:
All Ravens

-=AEROSPACE FIGHTERS=-

Almost all fighters are viable (especially on the medium bracket) but these have my seal of approval:
Note that Dogfighting means you buy this asset just to counter enemy birds.

Sparrowhawks (45-55k)

Dogfighting;

-Prime

All purpose;
-E

AntiGround;
-D/G (G is quite weak with only 1 firebomb, but it's the best you can get for cheap)

Narc/Special;
-C(iNarc)

---------------------------------------------------------

Medium Fighters (55k-85k)

Dogfighting;
Sulla A/B/D
Corsair G/I

All Purpose;
Sulla B/G/E
Corsair Prime

AntiGround;
Sulla C/F/G/H/I
Corsair E

Narc/Special;

Corsair F(iNarc)

---------------------------------------------------------

Visigoth (90k-115k)

Dogfighting not recommended, buy a Sulla/Corsair.
-C exists, but it feels lacking. It is just a Sulla with better armor and slightly worse handling. Not worth the price tag.

All purpose;
-Prime/B

AntiGround;
-A/B/D/E

Narc/Special;

-E

---------------------------------------------------------

Shiva (112k-140k), good ones are over 130k

Dogfighting
not recommended

All purpose;
-Prime/A/D(yolo)

AntiGround;
-A/B/D/F/G

Narc/Special;
-B(iNarc)

End notes: ASF
: My asset of choice is the Visigoth B in terms of flexibility. It does not turn like an oil tanker (Shiva) and you don't have to pray for the rng gods with the erppc hit detection. Just a cheaper Shiva.
For mid game (60k+ brackets) I go with the Sulla B, C or G depending on the situation.
Also, Air SSRM works different compared to ground asset SSRM; Air SSRM have 600 range and are more than suitable for anti-ground measures.

-=VTOL=-

All VTOL are in the 48-60k bracket. Most of the time you should go with ASF but some maps only allow VTOL. If a map has nice peak spots (like Harvest, those ridges) go for VTOL.

Long range (800m+)
-Hawkmoth D
-Donar D/Donar G

Assets with Missile-based loadout and possibly Narc/Tag(750m+)
-Hawkmoth B/F(iNarc but no missiles, consider for team with Arrows/LT)
-Donar B

Skirmishers (the yolo variants who do it close and personal, maybe ballooning too
-Hawkmoth C/E
-Donar E/F

As cool as it is to see a list of decent assets, I kinda like experimenting I've seen going on.

It's just nice to not be able to spot the variant quite so quickly you know? (Yes I am indeed Final Fantasy X), as I said before I'm not having a dig, I spend the majority of the time I'm playing helping out newbies and sort of watching them learn how to play the game. It's been interesting to see old strategies get rediscovered or them pull something new out their hats.

But ofc they'll need stuff like this. I'll probs chime in with a few I've found are good at a more supportive role.  Nice work Mechanical Papa.

For 0.8.0, buy a C3 mech, stay alive, run if you have to. Then you can save up enough to buy an assault.

The Heph with HE ATM and C3 works really well.

Osiris prime:
4x ERMBL - shoot fast movers with out leading, deliver the damage in a short burst,
SRM6 - Should anyone approach You, hit it with a mighty salvo while remaining radar-passive
and run ("kite") for your life with the help of improved Jump jets and the mech's great agility and speed
Osiris C/E:
Worth considering on TSA_Palisades (snipers/pop-tarts)
note: JJ on Osiris currently awfully broken on 32bit game :/

Solitaire D:
The quad MG array, while extremely useful versus BA, does quite help tip the scale if consistently pouring at the opponent
The LBX20 has an excellent advantage over most other weapons: it has tight window of engagement: all damage delivered in a glimpse of an eye:
Lots of time to dodge incoming fire (thus spreading damage)
No tedious in cross-hairs holding until the burst is delivered
Best of all the LB-X are cool to operate and quite reliable while doing so.
- recommended 1v1 tactics:
Have the MG aimed at the foe as long as possible with a steady stream of fire
Each time the MG shows perfect alignment to the target (hit-effects showing):fire the LB-X at it
Continue to pour the 4xMG to the target while waiting the LB-X to reload
Repeat until kill or a break off with enemy

Oh, so it's not a desync after all? It kept happening for me, all I could do was baby jumps. It appeared as me having -21 Jump Jet "charge".
Tools and I:
   - MWLL Online Launcher (LAN UDP Forwarder) - evolution of past "Le Proof of Concepto" project: connect without Gamespy via packet redirection;
   - Vehicle Browser - "Pocket Wiki" Šokaolias (not really that though);
   - Rconnect 4.3 - Server tools: map manager/player voting add-ons;
   - CryHammer - Validates Patch/CDKey of Crysis Wars (now unable to validate CDKey due to turned off Gamespy servers).

Haha I had that one listed already... Kind of... Just never named the actual chassis the variants belong to. Edited.

And yes I don't know if it's still nicknamed Joust, but that's how you play it. DRIVE BY

It was a weird issue, but we've since fixed it for 0.8.1.

At 80k + 1k for ammo, the Ryoken B might as well get slotted in as the premium upgrade to the Scat A on the 80k bracket

Forgot the Warhammer Prime for it's price bracket (twin PPC brawler = night hunter)

And the Bushwacker C - sub 60k  mid range brawler (UAC10 is en par with LBX20 DPS wise, even surpassing it!)
 ::)
this game just never gets old?

edit: price of Bushwacker  50k-->60k:/

I was thinking about the Scat the other day, is there anything that currently fills the role that the old scat... (I forget, *2 CLL's, NARC and IJJs) used to? I.E heavy scout/spotter?

I used to have a lot of success in that mech and it filled a niche that nothing else in the game at the time seemed to.
