Hey Guys,

I know this probably isn't the right forum for it but I honestly just wanted to get as much attention as I could before time is up for this very promising game that is struggling a bit to get the attention I think it deserves amongst the big leviathans such as Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous who in comparison are a pretty casual space sim experience in regards to what this title offers. Funnily enough after watching some videos on this new game they made me think somewhat of MechWarrior Living Legends for some reason.

Basically an interesting new title called Starfighter Inc. has started up it's second attempt to kickstart funds to assist in completing the game which is currently slated for release on April 2018 (pending the additional funding is made I would think). Currently it sounds like the game is a mix of full time devs and part time devs that work on the project in their own time while holding down day time jobs and the funding would allow the part time devs to be paid and justify allocating more time to finishing the project quicker. One thing they have said is that the game will be released no matter what, the additional funding they would get through Kickstarter is to help speed up development and ensure a number of more loftier goals are achievable.

Their initial campaign was for $250,000 which they got to 90% before the campaign ended. A year later with a lot more to show, they are asking for $150,000 instead.

A brief description of the game from their Kickstarter campaign:

"Starfighter Inc. puts you in the cockpit of the future in a hard science-fiction based multiplayer space combat simulator for Windows PC, featuring hardcore shooter gameplay in the spirit of X-Wing vs. TIE-Fighter, but with unprecedented depth and sophistication. Starfighter Inc. combines the lethality and permadeath of Counter-Strike with the technical depth and customization of World of Warships. The key difference is that players operate a variety of nuclear-powered single and multi-crew fighters, reconnaissance ships, strike craft, and support ships, with weapons ranging from lasers, railguns, and missiles, to electronic and cyber warfare capabilities."

I've already pledged $35 to the Kickstarter campaign which gives me Beta access and access to all stretch goal content. It just means I need to take lunch for a week instead of buying it each day 8)

Anyway, I thought if I was interested and it made me think somewhat of my MWLL experience then I thought maybe others on here may be interested as well and might help nudge their KS campaign a little closer to reaching their goal ;)

That does sound cool and everything, but I have to ask why choose that over Rogue System?

For one it's not on Kickstarter (I'm not really an overall fan of crowd funding), for two the developer seems to be quite involved with his community in terms of interacting with them and implementing features that they want, for 3 you can play it now.

Still I am all for more space sims in general, I hope it does well.

Yeah I've already backed Rogue System something like a year or more ago and think what Michael has accomplished so far mostly on his own is simply awesome. I love everything about RS and can't wait for him to get the coverage his game deserves.

I really like the direction Starfighter Inc are taking as well in a competitive multiplayer direction and think it along with Hellion and a few other space sims in development will actually give me more of the experience I was expecting when I first signed up for Star Citizen in 2013.

Anyway, anyone interested in Starfighter Inc should be happy to know it was successful in it's Kickstarter campaign this time, raising a total of $170k all up which should really help them to expand on their vision and increase production speed. Their Kickstarter page estimates a game release by April 2018.
