Turrets?
« on: June 08, 2008, 04:22:48 AM »
Do you guys have any unmanned AI turrets working with the weapons for this game? Or is the AI for even those still to hard?

I was thinking if you did it might be cool to throw together some gimmpy single player games using only turrets as enemy's with no other AI. Im sure it sounds lame to most people but I could see it being sort of cool to take a lone mech and assault an unmanned base for a SP game.

Also, have you guys done anything for a tutorial mode? A simplistic or short off line single player game with only turrets might serve well as an instructional demo.

Yes, there are definitely turrets. I'm working on some of the code right now.

I don't know about the particulars of single-player or instructional games.

To answer your question fully, Meanerelk is working currently on the AI implementation for the defense turrets. Intially we thought this was going to be very easy to re-use the code already in Crysis from their defense turrets. As with most things this wasn't the case. We have to re-work the code for ranges/damages/effects/animation etc...

We WANT to have a singleplayer type tutorial level where you learn the ins and outs of the basic of piloting vehicles in MWLL as well as battlesuits. Wether or not we will be able to get this in before Novemeber is unknown at this point.
