Alot of things have changed that you cant see, i changed my light setup and now it renders about 6 times faster.

Sorry that the images keep getting bigger and bigger :P This is beginning to look like a proper piece of mech art now.

Very nice.  We like!

Yeah, you're just missing a squished something or other under the foot to make it complete.   ;D

Thats easy to fix, just paint a red pool of colour comming out from under one of the foot... possibly a arm sticking out with hand and fingers in a cramplike claw. :D

Awesome, Love the Dire Wolf, looks really good. Hopefully they add it to the game once they have a IS battlemech (Like the battlemaster or something) to off set it. Or just randomly have one on the map and the first one to find it drives it xD.

TheANIMAL: Nice Dire Wolf you have there, the only criticism I have of it is that the part of the torso and shoulders that rotate look horribly exposed and a little 'flimsy'. I think the torso is supposed to come down closer to the legs and maybe the 'waist' and the part of the shoulders that rotate are supposed to be a little thicker (wider). Also, the cockpit is supposed to be taller than it is wide (at least it is in the book diagrams), I think that's just splitting hairs though. In any case, it's a gorgeous model.

/2cents

EDIT: you might also want to consider changing the angle that the upper legs are placed at (where they actually bend into ~35 angle, not where they move), this would keep the arms from hitting them when you rotate to the side. You also wouldn't have to extend the arms outward so far. It would be a tricky balance though, the model looks pretty accurate at the moment.

EDIT 2: Clarification.

Its a very tricky balance, the problem is that this daishi (aside from the smaller details) is accurate to daishi blueprints. So to solve this, i left in the rigging some universal joint movement in the elbows and shoulders so the arms can compensate for bashing the legs occasionally, in basic animation tests its a pretty small problem anyway. Maybe ill just have it walk more upright.

Anywho sinse this ive made a detailed ornithopter ( aflying mechanical bird), a concept car (actually that was just today, but it look pretty frikin cool for a few hours modelling) a load of trees, a cocain smuggling penguin and a few other things.

Wow.  That is some seriously awesome artwork sir.  It's making me regret never trying to mess with rendering.  All my stuff is flat. :(  Big kudos to you tho!

Animal, you have to show us the ornithopter!!!

Have been in love with the idea of orni's since I read Dune as a kid, not to show off your ornithopter could be construed as "unreasonable cruelty"!!

Oh wow.  Ornithopters.  That brings back memories.  I always wondered at just how that might be implemented though, or how they would look.  Yes please do post us a pic!

Awesome Dune goodness!  Thanks for the post!  Magnificent work.  As a suggestion, if you want to play with it, throw a house insignia on the wing? ;)

That is the coolest thing I have ever seen  ;D

Thanks Animal, that must have been a LOT of work, it's good enough for any bookcover :)

Started modelling in truespace on sunday, and have just got to grips with the basic controls.  Was going to post up the 'mech leg I've been working on for comments, and to find out how to smooth off the edges and make everything a little less lego-like; but now I'm seriously intimidated, that Orni is fantastic :)

If you see under my picture, my name isn't Doug, its Marcus. And why would i put 2006 on a picture i've just made?

I'm just giving an example of what mine looks like because mine is still ashamedly wip.
