Yeah they are both made out of Legos... theres a whole website with just about every mech. Thats a Vulture MK IV? an a Ryoken II... Both of which came from that newer version of table top... Darkages? er... something. I actually think the designs look nice, Im sure a lot would disagree.

No the Ryoken II was pre-darkage shitstorm. The vulture IV though makes no sense to me and is another wizkidz abomination. IMHO of course ;)
All of my posts are of my personal opinions unless obviously otherwise.

He made all of those?

Yes i did build most of them, we actually used them to play CBT outdoors with 10 inch hex's and marked tape measures.

You could sell those for some sweet dough you know...or you could sell them to me ::)

In short in matters battle armor, aerospace and omnimech

I've got kind of a weird question, to the devs mainly, dunno where else to put it:
Are there any renderings of the Uziel from any side and the back?^^'
Why would I want those?
Well, this semester I'm taking a class called Rapid Prototyping, where the aim is to create a model of more or less anything we choose, so long as it's possible to "print" with a 3D-printer (don't ask me how this works exactly, please ::) ), has multiple parts so it ends up as a sort of model-kit, including joints that work.
So basically, we're building action figures and I'd like to do the Uziel.

The only official image I found is... kinda crappy, so I'm hoping there are some more renderings of your high-poly Uziel around :>
I know you guys won't just hand out the model files themselves, but I'd really appreciate it if I could get my grubby hands on some more shots for inspiration ;)

Now, the finished model won't look anywhere near as good as the high-poly version, I'm no expert at 3DsMax, so very detailed work is still a bit beyond me, I've got other classes which stuff me with work and at the size we're printing for cost reasons (every added cm² quadruples the price or somewhere along those lines) small stuff, like the small gaps and the little raised armor plates won't make it to the final product.

I'll post pictures of it when it's done naturally, screens of WIPs if I think it looks good or I need any help and yeah...

Please? Pretty please? :D

You'd do well to PM a mod if you're really need it now.

Anywho, for a 3D Print , don't you need a perfectly closed mesh? Good luck with that.

I'll do that too, if noone answers here, I'm stubborn ;)

And yes, a perfectly closed mesh is one more reason I can't go overboard with detailing and stuff, I need to make sure I don't have even the slightest error in it or it'll come out wrong.
Luckily, the printer's program can fix small stuff by itself and checking for major errors is no big deal, just takes more time >_>

Some 3d printers do, some don't.  But for a fully close model .. tis quite easy really if you plan from the start to do that, rather than try and convert one.  But if you have a model (downloaded or made) that is not closed then I wouldn't bother I agree.

I will try and find a list of 3d printers see if you can get around the whole closed thing if you want.  I was thinking about 3d printing some of my models then I realised all my models suck balls :P

Some of my models are closed mesh, my Battlemaster was almost completely closed mesh which is why it sucked because the topology was a nightmare to work out. Fortunately Blender is going to have a usable re-topology tool soon.

For everything else, good old fashion intersecting modelling works fine, and i'm sticking to it, like this foot i just made.

why are you using 3DSMax for rapid prototyping modeling?  Shouldn't you be using solidworks, UGNX, catia, or ProE (or any other engineering CAD I forgot, no I didn't forget autocad, they're behind the times and fail epicly)?

Virtally all modeling programms can export doezens of different file types so the only question remains; which tool do i know how to use which will get the job done?

CAD specific programs aren't always the most appropriate.

Max is simply the program we use the most and it can export a filetype that the printer program can load...
I could use a CAD program, we have AutoCAD (which I haven't used so far) and Rhino, but I think Max might be better once I start going into details.

And I need the exercise ;)

so you're not an engineering student I take it?
