Mechs and speeds
« on: July 09, 2008, 05:46:28 PM »
I read in the July`s newsletter that the Kodiac will be replaced by the daishi.
So guys the kodiac funs wil not be able to drive a kodiac in the MWLL?
Also about the mech`s speed i wondered the maximum speeds will be limited?
I won`t be able to drive a 95 km/h Uziel with low armor?
If not these are some bad news for me and for the rest of the community i believe :-X

Uh no, the global speed cap for anything in Crysis is 100 meters per second if I am not mistaken, and 95km/h is only about 26 m/s.

Edit: Woops, meant m/s not mp/s. >_<

That could prove a problem with the Sulla.

600 km/h will be about 155 mp/h

ToeBall mentioned the engine limitation previously.

That could be a problem if you eventually implement a mech like a Dasher which can go way faster than that.

Proof that 100 m/s is 223.693629 mph

It's a bit slow for aircraft but well within acceptable for the map size in question. There should not be a CBT mech that can reach 360 kph. The Dasher's top speed with MASC is only 216 kph, and 162 kph without.

If aircrafts would be too fast they would just be über. No one could hit them.
The Jets in BF2 also don't fly mach 2 right ?

The fastest mech in Battletech is the Locust-6M which does 14/21[28] IIRC. That comes out to a top speed of 302.4 km/h I believe.

Yeah, for not actually doing the math your self.

Not in the beginning, no.
The "flanking speed" option, a neat little afterburner, allows to speed up for a limited period of time at least though.

Similar to a temporary MASC.

Aaaaaand that would be the IS Atlas and Fafnir and the CL BloodAssp with Cruising Speed: 28.4 kph; Overdrive Speed: 48.9 kph, i guess???
