I bet that could be arranged, though.

Apart from it's against their license which they obtained from M$  ;)

Even if they don't profit from it?
Let's say I'd like a dvd with MWLL and the team's signatures on disc and case, assuming the dev's agree to do this, I'd send an empty dvd to one of them, along with stamps/money for the return.
Or just a donation covering the expenses for the dvd and the postage.
Shouldn't be a problem, or would it?

This is just an idea I made up on the spot when I read this, all you rabid fanboys drooling on your pants... STOP!
Not going to happen (I think)
 ;D

Now, that would be interesting and cool, except the crysis wars video is an absolute pain in the ass to have to watch every time.

Having mechs in it would make it easier to look at

Er... actually I'm just talking about burning MW:LL to a DVD so it would be possible to "get your hands on" it.

... who would actually do that, I don't know, but that wasn't really the point.

My bad it came across that you were saying it was a commercially viable product  :-X

Yeah, why not just use the game itself for all the filming?

That would be cool.  Maybe show two mechs fighting it out to the death.

i have an easy low budget solution.

find some hobos, 2 large cardboard boxes, some markers, a camera, pirated copy of adobe aftereffects, and 5 dollars.

On one box, write Atlas, on the other, write timberwolf.  Give each box to a hobo for them to wear and tell them that if they fight, the winner gets 5 bucks.  Record the fight on the camera, and import into aftereffects to tighten it up with special effects like lasers, lense flares, and explosions.

Presto, you have yourself a mechwarrior intro
Wherever mechs are needed, I am there

I totally agree. I have done several machinima videos on world of warcraft. Using in game footage would be more practical and financially efficient and still an eye catcher instead of a high production blue screen video. I also use alot of texturing in my videos using Fraps, Particle Illusion, After effects [Riot Gear-Evolution-Twitch-SeriousFX]
I also have numerous professional contacts in the Voice Over field.

It still takes time to edit, get everyone together, get everyone to do the right thing and from what I've seen if this mod team wants to do something, they prefer to give it 100% or not at all. All that time could be spent are more productive things :)

100% agreed. If anything, it is a good "idea", and I think that we have almost demanded our beloved video games to have an outstanding cinematic these days to go along with it. It would seem more and more like how albums and cd's are. The major players have art work, lyrics and band pictures to go along with the music.
So, in essence , people get spoiled =OP
Just a suggestion though. I would think instead of a "Intro" to the game, a more logical approach would be to market the game itself in the way of a "Promo" video. And even if it were not to be created. No one can deny the power of video today used as a marketing tool.

Perhaps a contest could be held after the game is released, or maybe distribute a beta map with a couple iconic mechs and vehicles once the game is near complete, and let the community give back a little by making the intro movie.  Decide who gets the beta (if you go that route) and who wins however you wish.

There's so many people dying to be in on this project, this seems like an easy way to let them (wink, wink, nudge, nudge).

That does indeed sound like a pretty good idea. Maybe a collage video of several submissions would represent the game best.
Definitely an idea worth being kept in mind.

Arg I already said that, but obviously in the wrong Intro thread...I really think it would be a great idea to have a contest after 1.0 has been released. I'm sure if the community is large enough the we will see quite a few of em...
