system requirements to run this mod? Suggestons?

Tiger K8W Mobo (Dual Socket 940, AGP 8x)
One Opteron 280 (2 cores running at 2.4ghz each)
2 GB ECC Registered PC3200 DDR (64-bit)
Saphire Radeon X800 XT (500mhz, 256mb GDDR3)
Running Windows XP Pro 32

Upgrade Options:
Additional Opteron 280 (roughly $200)
4 GB RAM, Unfortunately it must be ECC, it must be PC3200, it must be 128-bit for my board to accept it (roughly $200)
HIS ICEQ3 Radeon 3850 AGP (roughly $200)

Which should I do to run Crysis, and why? Clearly if all 3 are necessary, $600 could get me a brand new PC, but I'm slightly overestimating the cost of some of the upgrades.

Graphics card will definitely need to be upgraded. The one you've got there is totally outdated.

4gigs is working for me now, not gonna become less worthy just because the CPU improved.
Ill grab another 4GB (or 2!) in the future. Or just grab a 12GB memory kit in a couple years when prices have fallen. :shrug:
The bandwidth with i7 with the on die memory controller is already huge. Triple channel really doesnt add much, if anything.

I'm gonna buy some additional 2gb DDR3-1600 to get 4gb in total! Weeeee!

But I want to warn you all for the terror which is called OCZ DDR3 memory...
Around march this year, I bought a 2gb kit. It was returned three times before I had a set with no memory errors (memtest). So if you want to buy OCZ DDR3 memory make sure you can return it easily (so no internetshops).

sadly no, (I have a copy though) some games won't run (xp or vista). but vista with servicepack 1 "sees" 4gb.

at the moment I use xp, so it sees 3gb (4gb max minus 1gb for the VGA card)

I'm waiting for christmas, when I get a 32mb cache HDD

Im looking to upgrade to 64bit Vista, but i keep seeing mixed reviews on it, ive currently got 4gb (2x2gb) which XP sees as 3.25gb but i want to take it up to 8gb so i need 64bit for that.

I dont think drivers are an issue so much now with Vista 64, but im still undecided

I do want to advice that 8gb isn't necessary for playing games; you won't feel or see a difference when playing with 4gb or 8gb.

However, if you work with photoshops and sh.. ehh stuff like that, then it's noticeable.
