don't know if crysis uses 8 cores though...
Btw, I bought the extra 2gb, everything is going well atm.

I haven't strained my quad yet with any game.  But I am only running 2 GB of RAM so I'm getting 2 more for Christmas.

probably not, but meh . .
it means 2x4x2,6GHz with 2x12MB Level2 Cache and 8 Gig of ECC FB DDR2 RAM . . that should allow me to run just about ANYTHING . .
even if i will need my very own reactor to power this <.<

Im looking to upgrade to 64bit Vista, but i keep seeing mixed reviews on it, ive currently got 4gb (2x2gb) which XP sees as 3.25gb but i want to take it up to 8gb so i need 64bit for that.

I dont think drivers are an issue so much now with Vista 64, but im still undecided



What reviews have you been hearing?
I've used Vista x64 on multiple systems on a regular basis and I haven't noticed much in the way of game-changing issues. It's been out awhile so there's much more support for x64 then there was before Vista, or even at its release.

The workstation at work has Vista x64, Two Dual-Core Opterons, Quadro-series Nvidia Card and 12GB of Ram.

I like x64, I just need it on my laptop now too so I can make use of all 4GB of ram.

Another vote for <3 vista x64.
And with 4GB, you really should be on a 64 bit OS; and XP x64, was um...utter crap. With vista anything with the vista logo needed x64 drivers, not just 32 bit. So almost everything works just fine.

if i can find the hardware, i will build me an okta-core system in the coming months . . if i can't run it on THAT, then there's something fishy with the code <.< . .

That't won't do you any good :D Running Crysis on a Quad core and in total just 2 cores are busy. First core at around 60-80% and the second at 20-30 .. the other 2 cores are not adding anything to it.

You might be able to run 2 crysis on 2 screens then though :P

I'm using OCZ...

I returned all my memory (my old memory was broken as well), so I had 4x 1Gb... now I have 2x 2Gb! Yeah!!!
Now I'm not gonna test my memory, I just wait until I play a new game (say gtaIV or crysis MWLL) and see...
