GameSpy's Top 25 Video Game Cinematic Moments
« on: April 24, 2007, 01:31:54 AM »
"The world of videogames has come a long way since Pac-Man first chased Ms. Pac-Man across the screen in what many consider one of the first-ever videogame cutscenes. Today we have both in-engine and pre-rendered masterpieces that tell amazing stories and feature jaw-dropping visuals and production values that are beginning to rival some of Hollywood's efforts.

We've decided to take a look back and celebrate what we consider to be the top 25 videogame-related cinematics of all time. These can be in-engine cutscenes or pre-rendered openings or even E3 trailers. While looks are a big part of why we like these cinematics, some have been picked for their storytelling, others for their technical achievements, and there are also a few we picked just because they're really, really cool. Check it out make sure to take a good look at #6 and #2 :D :D (also notice the publisher?)

All bias aside I've always thought the Mechwarrior franchise and especially StarCraft, and it's expansion, had the best cinematics in the industry.

Good to see MW/BT make a splash though.  Couple weeks ago IGN put out a list of the top IPs to make an MMO out of BattleTech was near the top.  Hopefully MS/FASA might feel some pressure with this exposure.  And then that Mitch Gitelmann interview on 1UP about BattleTech being the most brought up in game in the studio... might be closer than we think.

4 and 18 are my favorites... Those sequences sent shivers down my spine and created goose bumps everytime I watched them. Warcraft 3 had excellent cutsequences, I really loved that game.

#2 has great atmosphere too though. I remember it got me in the right mood to play MW2 back in the days.

As far as cut scenes I really liked all the ones in Mercs the best.  The intro was awesome but I also really liked the cutscenes at the end where you're a drunk throwing cans at the holoviewer or you're on your sailboat.
