Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2

It's a crying shame that Microsoft doesn't produce joysticks anymore, this one is about 8 years old and still indestructable. ;)
Not really indestructable i broke 2 by being a bit to agressive with the top buttons, but then ive also killed 3 saitek evos by snapping the triggers :P

Strongest stick ive found is the one im using now, the Trustmaster Fox Pro 2, im only on my 2nd one of these in 3 yrs so im happy with this :)

My god chicken, what in god's name do you do to your joysticks?

X52...PRO...yeah

...looking at this thing on an acid trip would be way trippy...it has so many lights and colors... :o

I think that's the regular x-52.  The x-52 pro is matte black.

I use a Microsoft Sidewinder Prescision 2 USB.

After 6 years I've made an oath to myself to put a plastic bag over it and protect it lool. Why? Because it was by far the most precise JS I've had. I excelled as a ER LL boater/LBX brawler in MW4. Some might remember :)

Are there any JSs out there, after nearly a decade of the Sidewinder Precision 2 being out, that compare? I bought a Saitek X45 couple of years ago but I was not impressed with the torso twist on the throttle as opposed to twisting the stick. That, and it wasn't nearly as accurate as the Precision 2.

I was hoping for a good joystick recommend too. I was close to buying an X-52 but I've read they have quality problems? Breaking quickly and such. Is this true?

I won't be putting a ton of hours on it, but I don't want it to break in 6 months either.

Anyone tried the Thrustmaster Stick X yet?

Thanks!

A good buddy of mine had a Thrustmaster 2 iirc (if that model makes sense) and I didn't like it. Too bulky and not precise enough for my standards. Was good in brawling but that's about it.

Will anything replace the Sidewinder Precision 2? It's been nearly 10 years now..  :-\

I've never had a joystick to try with mechwarrior.  I tried the sidewinder tilt sensitive gamepad but that was awkward so i've always used mouse and keyboard.  Now with this game though, I am going to see if it's possible to adapt my 3DConnexion Space Navigator to work for movement, might not be possible but it'd be great for movement and torso twist at the same time, if not more.  And if that doesn't work, I'll be looking for a joystick.

I used a Saitek Evo after too many buttons on my Precision 2 gave out. It didn't compare at all. Well, it had more buttons I guess, and I think it lasted pretty well, but the handling wasn't something I'd want to go back to.

I played on mouse after I got sick of that.

I have played all the other mechwarrior games.. I prefer the Sidewinder Joy sticks..  the digital precision2 or the force feedback.. although after hours of play the force must be turned off or down.

I think these sticks have the best precision, but i haven't tried anyof the new stuff..  too bad they quit making them.

Hey Blackace! Guess you never played Battletech at a Dave & BUsters then? They had pods with the controls thru a Joystick, throttle, and rudder. Also lots of pretty buttons!! It was sweet!!! So your Saitek system might just work!!

The Dave and Buster's by me doesn't have the pods so I've never been in one. =(

Anybody know somewhere to even buy a joystick? I looked at wal-mart yesterday and I didn't see any.

My local Wal-Mart has them.  Also, Target, Best Buy, and sometimes even EBGames/GameStop.

all Major Electronics Retailers carry those by the dozend O.o
one has an entire section cut off for just joysticks and gamepads . .
