Kickass Mw5 Concept Art (Image Heavy)

Hold your horses.  No, still no Mw5, but here is some concept art from the canceled Mw5.

Hey awesome thanks for putting them all in a single post we were looking through those last night and actually Death Grin is using the MW5 radar base picture currently as concept for the Mountain Pass map concept.

Wow i love turrets and that beach gun turret looks like something i might wanna do.

So I e-mailed Mr. Hescox about using his concept art for a game mod and this was his reply:

Dear Levi,
 
I am very pleased that you like my designs.  I had high hopes for that game project.
 
As much as I would like to see my designs brought into existence in a mod, the copyright to the designs are deeply tied up in the corporate grip of Microsoft who owned the project before it was canceled.  There is no way that I can grant that permission.

I was wondering if I could e-mail FASA studios about this and see if they can give us their blessing?  Or do you want to keep this under radar?  I don't have to name the project or anything but I could do a quick generic e-mail that was like, "Wow, that Richard Hescox did some great art for the canceled Mw5.  Would you guys care if we used it for a not-for-profit game mod?"

FASA Studios has always been super cool about letting mods use BattleTech/MechWarrior related stuff as long as it doesn't turn a profit.

Microsoft owns the copyright, I doubt FASA studios will be able to tell anything else.

Exactly and during the infancy stage of this mod i contacted microsoft's legal department and was told to use a disclaimer on the main site and on any portion of the site using any images or media pertaining at all to their trademark. Just to let you know btw just because you copyright an image the idea behind can still be used at any point in addition if you take a look at http://www.uspto.gov/main/trademarks.htm

neither microsoft nor FASA have trademarks or copyright on anything that says Mechwarrior 5. Those pictures are also not registered at all with microsoft's copyright or anyone else for that matter.

Okay, that's a relief.  It's some good artwork (particularly the vehicles) and I'd love to see it incorporated.

Already in use so don't worry bro...may be doing something with the "beach turret" picture as well, was really in need of a anti infantry deployable turret and i really like the look of that....it wont be quite so big but similar structure.

That looks more like an anti mech than anti infantry turret, what a beast.

True enough scaled down a bit could be a deployable guass rifle maybe?

I dunno about deployable.  It looks pretty stationary to me.  Could also be a naval class autocannon or gauss rifle as well.

Haha my low poly anti orbital cannon is ready. Thanks to all for the concepts. I probably could lower the poly's but it came out at 3k tris and 2.5k poly's. It looks fairly beefy.
