(poll) which mechwarrior do you prefer?

MW4 all the way here. I've played all 3 and I really like the idea of only being able to put certain weapons in certain slots.  That just makes sense although I know it nearly created a riot in within the community.

I played and enjoyed all of them but I voted for MechWarrior4 because of all the expansions (BK, Mercs, IS and Clan packs) and the Mektek Mekpaks. There is just a ton of variety in the game. Besides I will never forget the single player canpaign in Vengeance whe I defeated the end game guy in a Daishi with my Bushwacker. I was so proud of myself.

I like MW 3 for the customizing mech madness but MW 4 was a better game over all.  Now to dig up those CDs again.

I like MW4 personally, but this is probably because I actually played it. I was too young to be good at MW3, but I tried  . I mainly just went through lopsided instant actions and the training mission over and over, but when 4  came out i actually played. Me and my dad even connected our comps connected and played instant actions against bots a bunch, unfortunately that's as close to multiplayer as i ever got in a 'Mech

In terms of intros, i liked MW2: Mercs pretty good but it was a little short for my small 8 year old attention span. MW4 has a great intro in my opinion, the mechs look great and the silly acting with the clearly 20th century pilot outfits just top it off  (plus the guy with the lightsticks, its a mech not an airplane buddy) Theres more tech in a 60 dollar headset than those flight helmets
The best has got to be MW3 intro thou. Sure the text speech thing at the beginning is a little cheesy but its worth it with the radio chatter then that firefly runs out and goes down... Plus, "Big Al" is Australian!!

Edit: Also i forgot to ask, I haven't gotten around to reading any of the novels so i wouldn't know this: In all of these intros the mechs always die sooooo fast ex: the firefly, with no apparent previous damage, with the male pilot died in one ER PPC shot which does not happen in the game. Also in i think the MW2:31 Century Combat intro had a Thor who got owned and completely went crit with one salvo of 2 PPCs, then a completely undamaged Mad Cat was killed with one shot from something. Which one is more accurate according to the books, do mechs die that fast or is i tmore like the games?

The MW2 Mercs intro was awesome, even if it didn't even come close to reflecting the gameplay.  Back then it was a bad-ass video and it's a close second behind MW3 imo.  The MW4 intros were okay, but they just didn't have the panicked action the MW2M and MW3 intros did.

It has to  be Mechwarrior 2.  I got the game as a gift, and had no idea what it was.  Instantly fell in love with it, and Battletech as a result.  For that alone MW2 takes first place in my heart

There is such a new crowd in these votes, Mechwarrior 2 trilogy was the only way to go. The newer mw3/4 do not stand up to its shadow at all...

Oh I'm part of the new crowd but I've been into gaming since I was five and could understand controls...thanks to my dad, he was the one who bought me MW2 and then mercenaries, seriously he bought me those games and we played together...it was the best, if it weren't for my dad I may not know what mechwarrior is , plus though the graphics were older I think MW2 got the storyline and just the feel of being a mechwarrior right.

Clearly MechWarrior 3: Best mix between sim and action game, enthralling story and single player campaign, very nice graphics (for the time ^^) and motivating customization features.
This game is the reason I got interested in BattleTech in the first place, so it's got nostalgic value for me, too. When I first saw it as a kid I was blown away.

Hah, no argument there...as it stands however, 3 has to win my vote. I loved the exposed cabling after a nice pulse laser burst, or the chipped window in the cockpit from a stray machine gun...so satisfying.
