Can MWLL be run with Crysis Warhead instead of Crysis?

I bought Crysis Warhead a while ago, and I'm wondering if I can run this mod with just Crysis Warhead, and not Crysis.

I've been looking forward to MWLL since I got Crysis... I'll be getting Warhead as well just so that I can have it when this overhaul get's adjusted for it.  So far, I'm more than impressed... I've been waiting for a worthwhile Mechwarrior game for AGES!  And you guys just answered my prayers...

highly unprobable.
differences in network code and general structure pretty much make them incompatible.
'any kind of discussion of randomness ALWAYS WILL EQUATE to being able to critically hit a mech's reactor by firing a micro beam laser while facing 80 degrees to the side, shooting the ground, which would cause a random explosion which would randomly crit his entire team's reactors which would randomly cause the server itself to explode which would randomly generate a strange quark which would randomly hit the earth and randomly randomness randomfapp the shit fapp random!'

hold onto your Warhead for a few months.  Rev 0.4.0 will transition everything  to Crysis Warhead and development of the Vanilla Crysis versions will cease at that point if I am correct.

And those of us who bought Crysis with what little money we had so we could play this mod are officially screwed, for the sake of switching to a slightly better engine.

Gotta love it. I'm used to mods moving on when the engine they're running on is completely outdated, but this is downright stupid.

What about us early adopters huh. Those of us who bought the game for your mod instead of that wierd warhead thing. I don't even get what warhead is. So what, it's like a seperate singleplayer story with exactly the same gameplay and more or less identical settings? And the same multiplayer repackaged? And I'm supposed to be spending money on this? SCREW THAT.

How about thinking about the people who play and support the mod.

Work on the Crysis version of MWLL had already begun before Warhead/Wars was announced, but didn't progress to a beta state until after the expansion was released.
WAY before 0.1.0 was finally out, it was already clear that the mod would move to Wars at some point in the future, in fact, the only reason it was released for Vanilla Crysis at all was because of early adopters like you, people who'd already bought Crysis just for MWLL and who would've had a useless copy of a game they'd probably barely play lying around.

And then there was this thread, where the plans to move to Wars with the next update was announced again.

Since Wars has quite a few advantages over Vanilla Crysis, especially better netcode, most people are looking forward to it.

And just fiy, the Warhead/Wars expansion has contains Warhead, a single player campaign that's imho alot better than the original one, although it is kinda short and Wars, a multiplayer update.
Since it's been out for a while, you should be able to get it quite cheap in a lot of places.

I've stopped replying to folks who don't understand the fact that the MWLL port is for Wars and that Warhead is just an expansion pack of the vanilla Crysis.  For some reason, the improved Crysis MP netcode version (know as Crysis Wars) just goes over the heads of some folks who blink and ask "When is it on Warhead?"....

It's kind of like reasoning with Talkie Toaster, your cheerful breakfast companion; pointless and will drive you crazy  ::)

That is correct and certainly not going to change anymore as Crytek is fully focused on Crysis 2 these days (which, however, is not an option for MWLL at this time).

How about thinking about the people who play and support the mod.

Askis and Heretic basically summed up the team's stance on this issue. I'd just like to stress this. The Crysis version of MWLL more or less only exists as a gesture of gratitude for the faith in the team shown by that very kind of people - early adopters and enthusiasts who went out and bought Crysis merely because of our pre-announcement and video teasers. By the time we actually approached a release-ready beta version, it was clear, internally and externally, that the Crysis build would not receive support until the end of time, but Wars would receive our full attention, simply because of its technical superiority and essential features like a map downloader.

It is an ironic sidenote that some of us believe we could have avoided many of the problems that kept us awake at night to this point had we completely skipped Crysis and worked with the Wars dlls straight away.

Anyways, long story cut short: sorry, but support for Crysis will end with 0.4. We do not have the manpower to support both builds equally and the Wars build is the one that we expect to provide a significantly better gaming experience for everyone.
