Account Protection for MWLL
« on: January 22, 2009, 10:16:31 AM »
Assuming there will be accounts for MWLL, how will we protect our accounts? passwords? questionare? will it automatically remember us via IP adress?

Thanks.

Accounts that do what exactly?  Stat tracking won't be supported in any shape or form, so far as I know.

Hmm.  I thought variants would just be stored locally, haven't heard anything about clans (I just assumed accomplishments came under the category of stats).  Interesting question in any case.

By the way, when you say "your character" what do you mean?  Is there another game you are thinking of that has similar features to compare with?

MechWarrior: Living Legends is a Total Conversion Modification for Crysis. Things like the account system will be taken "as is" from Crysis.

I am fairly certain that you will create a gamespy account and be assigned a gamespy id for your name. There will be no private account details that you would need to provide (outside  of an email address). In addition, none of the devs nor members nor community will ever have access to that information.

The MMORPG game called guildwars, has accounts... and in each account there are character slots. will the game run like this, or wil it be one character per account?

Umm.  This isn't a MMO.  Think more like MechWarrior 4 online, but better.  I think that people are getting confused because of C-Bills but I think those will be like in Counter-Strike.

Actually, I think you could be using various Crysis/MWLL-names per one Gamespy-Account. However, it doesn't really matter as nothing in the mod is planned to be persistent so far: there will not be actual stat-tracking for kills, deaths, c-bills or anything else.

Hmmmm then C-Bills reset to zero after every session. How long would we have to play and deal damage in order to earn enough C-Bills to man a Mech or a flyer? I would imagine both of those would be fairly expensive and as I understand it you earn C-Bills as you deal damage to opponents so are we talking hours of game play before we have enough to jump in a Mech or does the money come fairly easy and you can get into something like a Bushwacker in less than an hour of battling?

Or am I misunderstanding the whole concept?

I believe each player currently starts with enough money to buy some low level equipment, depending on the class you choose.

I believe there are no classes ;)
You start in BA, with enough money to buy more weapons or build a light mech/tank/aero.
So it's up to you how you want to start the round and I don' think it'll take several hours to get enough cash for, say an Assault mech.
At least not if you're any good  :P

Hmm, I think you are right.  I was kinda thinking when you bought a vehicle you would basically be defining your class (since you would then be an aerospace pilot, mechwarrior, tank jockey, whatever) but now I think about it you could probably buy a mech, jump out and let someone else have it, right?  So it's not like buying anything actually defines your role, only what you actually use.
