Weather Options

I'm not sure if this has been asked before but I was wondering if visibility would be a factor in this mod.

I just remember those MW4 league battles from VL when one of the parameters ranged from clear to peasoup fog.

I hope (and wish) that vision distance should be not problem. It never is in real life. except in outrageously bad sandstorms  :P

Yes. Visibility on an icy and cold map with lots of snow, like SA_Frostbite, is different to visibility on a weatherless map like SA_Extremity.

Even though I already expected that, it's still very cool!

Random weather would be awesome on appropriate maps.

Will there be random weather within a map?  Will the sun come up on Clearcut only to have clouds roll in and a light rain lower my visibility?

Sorry, I don't have Crysis yet (or a decent graphics card) so I don't know how much the engine itself already handles...

Weather has and always will play a key role in all types of warfare.  It cannot be easily overcome for the infantryman, nor the airplane pilot.  It keeps jets grounded, gets tanks stuck in the mud, and freezes waterways making boat passage impossible.

We must consider that on "otherworlds" that the native climates may be more or less severe.  Hurricanes on our planet are size "A"...but on Mannedorf, they are size "DD".

Weather must be included to add realism.  Practice your gunnery people..Devs, PLEASE don't debilitate the game due to a lack of skill on certain players parts.

I agree. I found it alot of fun shooting at silhouettes and shadows when the visibility was compromised.

It also forces a pilot to rely more on his electronics.

As long as I can see past 1 kilometer, I'm happy...

Agreed  - MW4 took place on some of the foggiest planets in the universe.

Cheers,

IHMO, if there are going to be weather effects that reduce visibility, it needs to be both drastic, and look really good. In other words I want the fog to cut visibility down to under 200 meters.

1 Kilometer is too far if you want fog (or dust, snow, sandstorm, etc) to be a feature, simply because that is the max range of most weapons. If fog is going to be that far out, may as well not have it.

The other aspect is looking good. The Crysis engine does volumetic effects quite well, and since you wont be drawing much terrain (since everything is foggy) then may as well blow those extra GPU cycles on fog! pockets where it is more dense than others, mechs leave a trail in the fog, etc.
