Some direction for the animation guys
« on: February 07, 2009, 04:43:45 AM »
Thought I would post something to inspire you...

I especially love the BFG PPCs.  The acting is especially superb as well.

OMG, I absolutely LMAO.  (I don't use that lingo, but I thought this video warranted it.)

No offense intended buuuuuuut are you serious?
If our guys working on animations looked at this one they would have really big black and blue marks on their foreheads from bashing their heads of their keyboards.

Oh yeah, the blue water-ballon curve-ball PPC with huge diamond particle effects was just awesome.

Seriously, though, the models were decent, and the animations were ok, if a bit wobbly and stiff but with believable leg motions.  Everything else was horrid.  The acting was really bad, and putting them on camera was a huge mistake, but you could tell it was just the student's buddies happy to be in the intarwebz.  The sound mixing sounded like they were sitting in a basement playing D&D.  "My dude rolls three dice... oh no, I have to eject!  While I'm up I'm getting a sandwich."  Seeing their faces and the cardboard cockpits didn't help.  I think the video would have been twice as good if he'd put some static on the comms and never showed a pilot. The weapons effects, though, were just bad.  Oh no, it got hit with a blue ball, hurry, slump the ground, still shiny! Surprisingly bad compared to the fairly acceptable leg animations.

Um...no, I'm not serious...I thought the video was both horrible and hillarious.

Haha, you made me go back and watch it again to listen to the music.   :P

I guess the movement isn't horrible...and the models aren't that bad...

Ravir, I think you nailed it...

The bad acting made my ears bleed, come-on thet couldnt  even sync the voices with the acting...
The mechs where ok i guess for a project like that, but wtf is going on really? First i thought it was clan vs IS, but now i dont no what to think. They would of been better of with chimps as the actors.   :-\

Needs moar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUmYXJactSc&fmt=18.

Oh god that was good :)
I'm guessing that the ASP is running in that clip?  Are you going to anumate the toes eventually (i.e. gripping slightly when the leg moves, falling to 90degrees to the foot when the leg is half way through the cycle and openinging again as the foot comes back to land)?

Walking. Toes already animated (a lot more subtle than what you see in the other mw games because they made it over exaggerated).

You guys know that Corey "Inferno" Trick was once a MWLL Dev right? He's the one that built the first pass models of the Awesome, Shadowcat and Novacat. He bowed out a few months back because of school.
