I agree, classic showdown, question is, it high noon at the OK Corral, or 20 paces, turn and fire?
One question for the Devs, any chance if two Mechs were to square off like this and agree to one shot each that one or the other could be taken out with a single head shot?
As much as I have experimented in game with head shots there are so many variety's of Mechs it is hard to tell that sweet spot for a head shot. I know I have shot an Atlas in the head several times for instance and seen the face blackened from the blast but to little effect. I would love to see a technical diagram of each Mech and the head shot and other critical areas, on each Mech.
I do remember a classic moment burned into my memory from playing MW back in the day of being online in a Summoner which was kicking butt with every mech I took on and I found myself in a showdown position like this from just out of my weapons range. A little overconfident, and with a completely damage free mech I waited for a moment for the other mech to move into range as I lined up my shot, then I saw a little green laser flicker, my windshield cracked, and I was history. He got a single clean head shot probably from an extended range laser and completely took out my mech. It didnt matter that I lost, I had to give him credit as he obviously had this shot down and was owning the field with it. I have always wanted to be able to duplicate that moment, of course being on the winning side...
