Tried it, didn't like it.

Looked too old-fashioned for me and the game-play was slow-paced and sluggish.
I prefer the Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2. It doesn't have those default comm messages, but it looks better, to me it feels better and it is - despite of its very strategic approach - by far more fast-paced than ArmA.

The one thing i did enjoy about ArmA was the way the vehicles were handled. The drawback to being such a realistic combat simulator (which is what the set out to do and without a doubt achieved) is that FPS genre typically isnt so slow. Even quasi-realistic shooters like ghost recon or rainbow six had more action.

I truly am not trying to take anything away from ArmA but i need to agree with AoP since it was a little too realistic for my taste though i really enjoyed the vehicles and map design was well done too.

ArmA is badass as hell.  Best game ever as far as I'm concerned.  It's everything I loved about O:FP but scaled much larger plus the mods.... mods galore.  Just as challenging as O:FP.  As a RL soldier I love everything about the game.  ArmA and O:FP before it are the only games I've ever played where my training actually matters.

Love it, love it, love it.

I can see where you other guys are coming from, I was the same when I 1st got OFP, but after was bored 1 afternoon and decided to give it another try I was hooked.

So my main point is, give it some time, you will learn to love it.
