I do notice a huge amount of heat in MW4 mercs with lasers and PPCs, far more than the canon rules would call for. The weight and damage on them are good, but YEESH so they heat up quick, and forget about a damned X-pulse or ER pulse!
MW4's heat system is flawed. Weapons tend to shoot faster than the standard length of a Battletech turn which is 10 seconds. Meaning a large laser in Mercs can put out twice as much heat over what is written in the rules. Of course, the heat dissipation isn't quite up to spec. That's a problem, because it turns some mech's stock variants highly unusable. Like the Vulture for example.
Also, is it me, or do MGs cause heat in Mercs? I loaded a mech with them for shits and giggles, and damned if it didn't warm up QUICKLY when I was firing the buggers.
I'm not sure about this one. I don't think they produce heat but I just can't tell you exactly.
the one thing that's really poorly done in CBT is weapon reaload time.
if they had different reaload times, it would be one step closer to really immersive simulation.
Well, you have to understand, that CBT is mainly a turn-based boardgame. There really isn't a reason for differenced reload times in that environment, so it isn't a flaw. And I do have trouble picturing how that could be implemented.
