ok, i am bored at work as it is, i'll try and do a translation:
MWLL: Mechwarrior lives on with CryEngine 2
The CryEngine 2 is without doubt one of the best game engines available on the market right now.
The Engine of crysis, crysis warhead and crysis wars of the publisher crytek celebrated according successes, and the elder series mechwarrior shall soon be allowed to live on in the form of a crysis total conversion mod.
This Mod will be called Mechwarrior: Living Legends, or MWLL and be based on the CryEngine 2. As expected, the Trailerers and Screenshots of this title - which is, as of now, still in pre-alpha-state - do look promising. MWLL is not yet really playable, but the developers manage to tide over their fanbase with their very own christmas calendar - which steers in the direction of an as of yet undisclosed release-date - dayly on their blog.
In two current video-clips, which have been released in february, there are shown some scenes of Battle and also an explanation for the use of the TAG-Laser. Armored Infantry, in the form of the Elemental(Clan) or the Longinus(IS) uses the TAG-Laser to spot/mark enemy targets so mechs that stay hidden can shoot their missles at them. Generally the Battle-Armor shall receive more importance than ever before in older Battletech titles, either Mechwarrior(Action) or Mechcommander(RTS). To finish missions successfully, it shall become neccessary in MWLL to command Mechs, Tanks and the armored infantry. Many strategic points, which will decide about win and loss, can only be conquered by Elementals and Longini. More Data about MWLL can be found at the end of this News-Article in a list.
The Blog, which has been with the developement of Mechwarrior: Living Legends, was started February 27. in 2007. Motivated by the Situation that a really big fanbase has been waiting for more than 6 years for a new mechwarrior title by now. Approximately 25 million Humans have played either an Battletech or Mechwarrior game or read one of the books. another 10 million are thought to have played a battletech based computer game.
The first picture in the following streak shows the size comparsion between mechs and tanks. The first tank on the left is an original crysis tank.
Even though no releasedate for MWLL is known as of yet, the project is said to be one of the most promising initatives to get Mechwarrior back to Computers all around the world. In the beginning, the release was planned for the end of 2008. On December 21. 2008 the Devs declared, that they would be unable to make it by that time. They put more worth into the completion of the project, than the release date. In the same sentence the developers also said that they had begun chosing people for a closed beta. MWLL is supposed to be free, but crysis is a requirement, because the mod is based on that game. If Warhead or Wars meet these requirements is unknown to us
