Crysis
« on: February 24, 2009, 08:08:54 PM »
Just put that game in and not liking the way things are (graphics are nice though) but the game did not catch my attention. I'd rather Multiplay Battlefield 2142 then Crysis.

Can't wait for the MWLL MOD to make this game what it can be.

What a difference it will make.

The makers of Crysis should be paying the Devs here for making their game worth playing! (I think cause I cant play it yet)

Wow really? I thought BF2142 was just a reskinned BF2, as in reskinned garbage! But Ive only ever played 2142 at a freinds house.

Im suprised power struggle dosent get you going, I think its what battlefield games should be like!

But whatever the case, this mod will be my number one played game for a LONG time!

What version of Crysis is everyone running?

Should we update to newest?

What are most servers using if not the newest?

I updated and lost ability to play with anyone.....

Working it out ATM.

MWLL requires Crysis patch 1.20 and hotfix 1.21 to be installed. In the game menu, the build version in the lower right corner of the screen should say. 1.1.6156

I loved the BF games all the way through Vietnam (after they tweaked it), but had trouble getting in to BF2.  I'm not really sure why, to be honest.  Maybe I preferred the historical aspects of the first ones, but I think it was some other things, like the Blackhawk campers, etc.  I was always a happy sniper, but I had trouble with it in BF2.  I played it for a while, then sort of lost interest and dove into Star Wars Battlefront 2, which was more funner simply because it was Star Wars.

I've been wanting to try BF2142, but not sure if it'll be any better than BF2.

I enjoyed Crysis bunches.  I regifted it to my nephew right before I heard about this mod, so now I have to go buy it again. :P

Honestly, I'd expected a bit more from the 2nd game.  It seemed way short, and nothing terribly new.  I liked Warhead, because the main character was a lot more fun, but again, very short.  I only played Crysis multi once, and things were so frenetic and twitchy that I never played again.  I couldn't see any strategy or team cohesion at all.  To be fair, it was Crysis 1, and I haven't tried 2 multi yet.  Dunno if it's different.

I've never been interested in sniping and spent most of the time accumulated with that kit in BF2 either as commander or in a chopper/jet, but from an actual infantry combat point of view, BF2142 is significantly better than BF2. Even as a whole  BF2142 is better than BF2 - it's just less popular.

Crysis Warhead and Crysis Wars are *not* Crysis 2. Warhead is a standalone add-on for Crysis. Crysis Wars, the multiplayer component of Crysis Warhead, isn't different from multiplayer in the original Crysis - even though there are quite a few smaller maps in it.

Unfortunately not, but we'll be releasing MWLL on Crysis Wars as well at some point.

Yeah, I confoosled myself.  I realize now that I was actually playing FAR CRY, not Crysis, LOL!  I think I probably read somewhere that they're working on Crysis 2 and it stuck in my silly noggin.  I didn't try playing Crysis multi at all, because I assumed it would be a lot like FC.

Thanks for the info about BF2142 though AoP.  I'll probably go ahead and buy it now.  I really did enjoy the BF games, except for BF2.  It'd be nice to get back into it, and the game is pretty cheap now. :)  Hopefully I'll see you in there eventually.  Just take pity on any enemy named 'Loonatic' or some variation thereof.  He probably won't have much of a clue.

My understanding is that Crytek will not be publishing anymore PC titles because of piracy - unless that's changed in the last month or so I don't think we will ever see Crysis 2

That is a misunderstanding. Crytek did not give up the PC-plattform, they just gave up developing and releasing exclusively for the PC.

Yeah, that's why FC2 is so dumbed down...
A pity actually, could have been a good game, if some things were changed.
Like everyone shooting at you, even though you're helping their faction, enemies respawning after 10mins, "convoys" that just drive in circles and much more...

But I can understand it, from a developer's viewpoint.
Console games, especially for the 360, are where the big bucks come from.

You actually make more per PC games sold (especially if you use digital distribution) than either ps3 or 360 game sold, although the market for console games is now dwarfing the pc market, piracy is a big hot topic with pc developers right now.  As someone who works in the industry I can honestly say that at least 50-75% of you have downloaded a film or a game without paying for it.  Be it a small application that you wouldn't have bought anyway to a episode of lost/friends/-insert series here- to a full AAA title, but not gonna get on one here it all hurts our industry quite badly.  The last game that come out of the studio I was working for on the PC around 50% of all the copies that were circulating were pirated, now some might say if they couldn't have pirated it they wouldn't have bought it anyway but a percentage of them would.

Other studios have even worse numbers for piracy, I heard that World of Goo (independent studio and distribution) 75-80% of all the people who played were playing a pirated copy.  So you can understand the thoughts behind not wanting to program or develop games for the pc anymore.  Add to that the compatibility and such a wide range of different power of each individual pc, it's a costly process to make sure that each combination of hardware setup will not result in crashing ect.

ya piracy has started to hit some of the bigger companies too. i was gonna buy the new madden game but they canceled it because of pirates (wow im one to talk since i am on piratebay all the time).

if crytek gave up on pc did they move to xbox/ps3/wii etc? (sorry last platform i had was a n64 so i dont pay attention to console games and companies)

BTW ***hides in corner*** will mwll work if you have a pirated copy of the game? no that i have one....just wondering cuz i might have to buy a copy  ;)
