Haha, I feel like a dumbass now. All this time I could've done that and had the game work on vista  thanks for the info, will be playing now. MC-MCG are a pair of my most favorite games.

How i play this is it just for making it or playing and making it

I need to find my Mechcommander Gold cd... I downloaded it but it asks for your CD and obviously I don't have one lol. Any ideas?

The torrent should have an .iso file with the whole game CD in it, if not select the entire folder with the downloaded torrent and create an .iso of it, with Nero or other wares. Mount the .iso on a Virtual Drive, Daemontool or other is capable of simulating that.

I think Battletech done well in the Supreme Commander Engine would rule.

I did hear of a mod for it that was going to be Battletech but it died like most other mods for the game.

I just made an .ISO image of the download, using Daemon tools to load it. Works like a charm! So once I finish Mechcommander one, I'll move onto the expansion!

If you want to play the game online go to www.reverbgaming.com

You can also play on www.gameranger.com but RG seems to have the most amount of players out of the two.

Poeple usually come on every night between 6PM EST to 2AM EST (11PM EST to 8AM GMT). However this can vary depending on the day. The best advice I can give is to  stay in the lobby and people will eventually come in and play.

something illy i just noticed:
Mechcommander 1 runs on my vista without giving me much trouble, aside for the graphics not being pretty . .
Mechcommander 2 on the other hand? no such luck . . it took 5 minutes just to load the main menue somehow.
Anyone got some pointers that may allow me to actually run mechcommander 2 on my vista laptop without the
need for a virtual environment?

MC2 wont work on vista and I don't know why not. Plus I prefer MC/MCG's art style over MC2's.

ok, just one little small question:
i have just downloaded the mechcommander gold torrent rar . .
who was the genius that decided to make the .iso hidden?
ok, nobody probably knows this. .
but what reason could there be for something like that?

Does it take a genius now, to know how to open, a rar file?

This program, http://www.7-zip.org/, will open it.

i opened it, that was not the problem . . i extracted, that was easy enough too . .
then there's no file in the location where i unpacked to . . and when i do it again, it asks if i want to overwrite . .
so i try on other computer, extraction is just fine, but file looks strange . . so i look into the properties of the .iso file . .
and now i know why my other computer won'T display, because the other computer is not displaying hidden files . .
so why in the world is the frigging iso in hidden mode?

It isn't your typical .ISO file that is extracted. What I did is extract those files, use a program to create an .ISO from those files. What it will do is create a .MDS or other type of ISO file, with that is also the files in a archive. Hope this helps you understand that a little bit..

I keep running into an issue with the game itself, I can play a mission or sometimes not even with the game crashing to desktop. I have it running in Win98SE compatibility mode, but it doesn't seem to effect it any... Any ideas?
