On mechcommander.org, is the Mechcommander gold file just an expansion to the first mechcommander (that you have to also download), or it is both mechcommander 1 and its expansion in one package?

Beside that, I'm running MC2 on Vista with no problem (had some visual glitches at first due to DirectX compatibility, but there is a small patch in the iso for that).

gold is both in one package . .
and mechcommander 2 starts up on my vista laptop, that it does, yes . .
but it takes more than 5 minutes even for the main menue to be displayed!
and then the mouse cursor blinks in and out of existance every second or so.
and if i actually do manage to click on something, i get to wait for 5 minutes
again untill the chosen option has been loaded . . i ain't patient enough to
really try and get a game running like that <.< . .

I think disabling hardware mouse fixes the cursor flickering problem om MC2.

am doing that.
have tried all other compatibility modes too . . nothing seems to change that somehow x.x . .
could it be that it has something to do with the laptop hardware?
whoever got MC2 under vista to run smooth and fast, mind dropping some hints in here for me? ^^

Well Mechcommander Gold has no issues, so I just copied my saved game to Gold and run it in that instead.

Well off the bat, if I install mechcommander 2 with my CD, it has graphic issues. If I download the .ISO and run the game from source or from Wolfman-X, it runs just fine.

I had another great battle a few days ago. I slammed another large artillery piece through a Madcat-W's cockpit, was so satisfying to see the rest of the battlemech intact. The rest of the mission went well, though I had Siren in a Cougar-J doing some recon.. She ran into a catapult and for the most part was ok, I had her hit a fuel depot which hurt the catapult good, but a few LRM salvo's later she ejected, the battlemech was fine so no loss there.

I am really impressed with how well the centurion is all around, just a solid battlemech as long as it has support. I'll try and get a few more missions in tonight, the game is so addictive!

You have to delete these two files called badcard.csv and vidcard.csv. I did that and then it started to run fine. I still don't know how to fix the mouse, but at least the game runs now.

Delete the files "badcard.csv" and "vidcard.csv" from the MC2 directory.
Should then run fine.

I challenge anyone to reply the main MC1 campaign using nothing but IS tech. No Clan Mechs/Weps/Equipment/Electronics. Now that's hard! :D
