MWLL Advent Calendar - Door 88

The opening of door #88 on February 26th sees another return to ToA_Clearcut at night. We're also meeting an old friend from a couple of days ago: a Shiva commencing another attackrun on an enemy Mech. This time, we see the heavy air vehicle not use its rockets, but its energy weapons. The victim obviously is already heading towards that very bright, white light as the beginning core explosion on the ground suggests. The missiles flying around suggest the Shiva was not that Mech's only adversary around. Enjoy!

Is this staged or is the game really running this well already? It looks brilliant!

This is an actual ingame screenshot from last Sunday's playtest.

does the gauss aim at the shiva or at the ground?
nice picture ^^
'any kind of discussion of randomness ALWAYS WILL EQUATE to being able to critically hit a mech's reactor by firing a micro beam laser while facing 80 degrees to the side, shooting the ground, which would cause a random explosion which would randomly crit his entire team's reactors which would randomly cause the server itself to explode which would randomly generate a strange quark which would randomly hit the earth and randomly randomness randomfapp the shit fapp random!'

Looks good, but I still don't like the gauss effect ... think it should be more particle effects and less roundess bright blue circles.

Nice picture, I'm still undecided on weather I like the Gauss rifle firing effect. Wouldn't it be better to have it start fading out after say 6 rings? or does the effect last a very short time? like say a couple seconds?

These are static pictures - it's really hard to tell how an effect looks like if it stays on screen. Wait for the game to come out before trying to change it :P Maybe you gonna like it in-game! I sure do :D

Its funny how the movie Eraser has permanently placed in the public mind that Gauss Rifles create tiny circles as they travel through the air.

It does, it fades away quickly. Something that you can't capture on those screens anyway :)

Eraser? For me it was Quake 3 Arena - different gun, I know, but I liked it :D

Quake 3 Railgun got its effect from the Quake 2 Railgun, and Quake 2 came out shortly after Eraser did.  :D

Another awesome screeny to keep us on the edge of our seats  ;D Everything looks so good! At the end of the day, all I have in way of comparison is Mech4 which is sooo dated now and looks like a cabinet pub game by comparison :)  Keep 'em coming Devs. Lovin the work.

Good to hear, that was what I was hoping you'd done.
