MWLL is opening door #94 in its release countdown calendar. The screenshot of March 4th shows two new features on SA_Sandblasted: a slowly growing day-night-cycle and sandstorms! Also, you see an elemental up in the air fighting an Owens on the ground which has already lost its right weapon pod in combat earlier. Enjoy!

Nice.

Is this the first picture to show a mech using water in the environment?   Don't know if it could actually submerge itself in water or not.

Wow.  I am lovin that!  The atmosphere is foreboding, ominous, and just plain awesome!  Hell, it looks scary!  I'd hate to be a mechwarrior out fighting in that environment.  Visibility would be awful, and it's just plain oppressive looking.  Great work!

Sandstorms: Nice environment effect.

Quicksand:  Not-so-nice.

Wish I could think of something more profound that "Sweet," so I'll leave it at that.

Jump jets would get you out of Qsand.
Question: if a mech or BA were completely submerged underwater, would the mech or BA run out of air and die after a while?

I remember a long time ago posting the idea of how the environments in battletech played a huge role in the novels, it seems you guys have hit that right on the spot. Amazing shot, I would hate to have a star of elementals going at me... ah how it brings back memories of the novels and elementals shrugging off medium lasers, only to be totally vaporized by a large laser...

Not a battlemech, unless the hull has been breached they clean and recirculate air. The same goes for battle armor as well, but I do not know if there is a time limit on it..

From what I've read, Mechs can remain submerged almost indefinitely.  Heck, they seem to have little trouble fighting even in the vaccuum of space.  However weaponry is definitely affected.  When firing underwater, most energy weapons ranges are drastically reduced, with ballistics being unusable, save for special torpedo versions of LRMS and SRMS.  At one point I even remember a mech designed for underwater combat.  Can't remember its name tho.

Quicksand is only so deep and a mech would proberly be alot taller then it's depth. Plus it'd proberly have enough power on it's own to just plain old walk out of it, Battlearmour would be a different story and elementals etc would possibly have issues.

Nice environment setup with the sandstorm, but is it particle driven or what? As I could see it being a resource hog in MP :(
