Freelancer

Has anyone been playing it?
2003 game but there still are some servers out there.
Many mods around and a BT Aerotech mod in the works, too;
guess you guys are aware of it but didn't find it mentioned anywhere;
I wonder if it could be of some interest for you.

What is it? An early sci-fi version of WoW with elements of Wing Commander: Privateer?

The name sounds familiar, I at least remember seeing lots of ads in gaming magazines back in those days, but I'm pretty sure I never played it.

I'd say it's more similar to Darkstar One, Freespace 2 or the X series by Egosoft (X³: Reunion is the latest);

it's not sophisticated and quite enjoyable imo.

Yeah i played freelancer quite a bit way back when the only real issue i found with it is all the mini missions were all the same...with such a big universe i really expected to have a big variety in missions. Was cool though with all the different ships and such.

Seems like my guess WC:P wasn't that wrong. Doesn't seem like a game I want to spend much time on, the WC games satisfied my need.

fair enough  , but some mods are really worth a try, quite immersive and with subtantial RP element, like Discovery  http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?
Edit: the Edge Nebula mod looks good too (have yet to try this one)

Anyway, I wanted mainly to know if you were aware of the FWL Aerotech mod, still in the works, but looking promising.

Looks not too bad but there really isn't much to see....maybe pics are being blocked here at the base but i only saw a single render which wasn't terrible but saying as though the game they are modding was released four years ago...i dunno what to think about it

I might go about emailing these goes to see if they'd like to do some sort of asset sharing...
