I just don't want the lateral jump jet movement, that was just dumb and should have resulted in the mech stumbling and falling half the time.

I remember playing MW2 Campaign, before I even understood the concept of online. Anyone else ever press jump a million times to go as high as you could?

I think Jump Jets should be you jump, then you have limited fuel until you hit the ground again. Also, you should be pretty unmaneuverable unless you have some extra fuel to do mid air turns.

I loved MW2 I had a Mad Dog that could perma fly around maps ;D  I would fly in unload 2 IRM 20's and be out before they knew what just happend to them ;)

But more to topic, I loved love to see the jets be tweakable, say give the player control on tweaking the thrust and recharge at the cost of tonage or something.  Shorta like Armor core were ya can tweak that kind of stuff.

I never used JJ in MW4 because it just made you a hell of an easy target and really didn't do much at all to get you anywhere quickly that I could see.  Did anyone find them useful?
Yes, Uziel + short hill+2 PPCs = annoying!

For a while, Ryokins jump jetting behind Palce Gates walls was all the rage. They could cut you to pieces with lasers before you could get anywhere near them. Yeah used properly they are lethal.

Like the previous poster said the Uzi behind a low hill or ridgeline with PPCs equals good fun. They can also be used to get to a nice high perch where you can sit and snipe the battle below.

i always found the JJs from the mpbt3025 beta to be my fevorite out of all of them.

mw2 jjs were sorta feathery but gave way too much control plus allowed for boosting straight across the ground, you'd be retarded not to equip them, and masc was useless because of it.

mw3 jjs felt like an escalator ride

mw4 jjs while faster were very predicatable due to no control besides original momentum

mpbt3025 jjs felt like you were an action figure strapped to a model rocket.  you hit the button and your mech shot into the air all HOLY SHIT-like, and your aim was actually affected like in the rules.  An easy ride it was not.  You couldn't really jump snipe with them, but you could pull crazy moves out of your ass in a fight.
Wherever mechs are needed, I am there

With FD here, that model was very similar to the MC JJ model, and I'm all for those types of JJs.  Jump sniping combined with free 3rd person PoV largely ruined MW4 for me (plus the nerfing of smaller weapons, the heat model, the doubling of most 'mechs armour, the list goes on....).  And although fun, they were very much like tribes in MW2 and MW3 (fun in a Nova :) ) and as Lag-shooting tended to be what decided fights nobody really minded.

But with MW4 "fixing" lag they became a colossal pain in the arse for anyone who wanted to play a believable sim, you can't see over walls, and you can't aim while your entire 'mech does the equivalent of ejection, ergo people who built a career in 3rd person Jump snipers were just as annoying as the people in other games who constantly used exploits in the game mechanics like bunny hoppers.

I went right off MW4 quickly (right after Black Knight was released) and stayed away untill NBT brought out the Hardcore patch, it's hard to hate a dedicated jumpsniper in forced 1st person games, everytime they light up those JJs they're gambling on where they guess the enemy will be, they're not just using an exploit (so you don't see them so often).

Some mechs are much better than others for the use of jump jets. In our league drops, we stopped using uziels altogether because the hit boxes are huge and they are EXTREMELY easy to core. A much better choice for an inner sphere jumper would be an avatar, much much harder to kill.

cool that means no assault snipers like mw3 online

... You never played MW2 online did you.. Yeah Sniping Marauders on the top mesa's, sniping Dire Wolves, Warhawks, Goliaths! I still remember my first time, 56k and walking  into the ice valley all the sudden seeing 2 Dire Wolves poke their heads up over the plateau when in my Marauder.. Got cut down in seconds.

lol i think everybody is forgetting something even worse than the usual jump sniper... the madcat mk2 could use jump jets :D  now thats fun nobody ever expects to see a madcat mk2 where assault mechs aren't supposed to be...

lol well only having one go at the jump jets just isn't battletech, jump jets basically just use excess heat energy from their reactors in an increased burst to fly.
