The big downfall of both Activision companies is that they don't support the community as well as other games, especially Treyarch.
This is actually Activision's fault, not IW. In genera, the publisher decides how much support a game gets after release, not the developers. Unlike a mod project where the developers do other things for a living, don't have a publisher, and support the mod and community in their spare time, when you do game development for a living you work on the project that gets you paid and usually don't have enough spare time to do anything else. By the time Activision has published a game made by IW, it's not unusual for them to have already moved IW onto the next project and have given someone else the responsibility of patching, support, and expansions. Treyarch is in an even worse position in that regard, once IW has finished creating new awesomeness, Activision farms the engine out to Treyarch for milking as quickly and repeatedly as possible. It's the publisher's decision to push out new games and technology as quickly as possible rather than expand on a single community. Mostly because that's a better risk/reward evaluation than putting your money on something like Source, or selling Half-Life over and over and over again in a different box. That's not a common situation.
Anyway, I also hate Bloc. Shipment is only good if you're on a LAN game, in which case you turn on Hardcore mode and go KNIVES ONLY. Ninja combat FTW.
