Is this picture In-game? cause that explosion in the background looks AWESOME!!!!

Refer to old alpha video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvjKSzz7B8s
Remember, the HUD has already undergone significant changes since that video.  Actually, the core explosions have, too, but you get the idea.

That Atlas better hope he does not get a critical hit and set the Cats reactor off because at this range and based on the reactor explosions we have seen, he will be toast too.

Big Al's got kind of a history in that very department.........  8)

That is one hell of a sweet reactor explosion.  The piddly MW4 rendering of it always felt far too small for what was supposed to actually be happening.

Are vehicles/mechs that are caught in it damaged out to the full radius of the visual effect or does the damage stop at some lesser distance?
The key is to obscure your intentions and make them unpredictable to your opponent while you simultaneously clarify his intentions. That is, operate at a faster tempo to generate rapidly changing conditions that inhibit your opponent from adapting or reacting to those changes and that suppress or destroy his awareness. Thus, a hodgepodge of confusion and disorder occur to cause him to over- or under-react to conditions or activities that appear to be uncertain, ambiguous, or incomprehensible.

This shot looks like a dirty ashtray...all gray with a few glowing butts (er...devs).  Let's see some COLOR!!!  Wouldn't that just be fabulous?!?!  I like purple;)

Actually, the area of effect of those core explosions looks massive.  I had thought about it from a ground perspective, but this shot shows the danger to aero, too.

If you want to play something more cheerful, try playing the Wizkids version of battletech. Classic Battletech is for those who hate life.

It exponentially decreases from 100% at the core to 0% roughly 100m out, subject to change, but yes, it does damage to the explosion radius.
