MW:LL AI
« on: March 30, 2009, 07:14:04 AM »
over at moddb I noticed this:http://www.moddb.com/news/co-op-announcement
does this mean that bots are a possibility?

they are claiming that 100 ai's can be in game without lag,
I understand they'd have to be adapted to the new units and that it is for crysis wars, but isn't cryengine2 still the same engine?

thanks ahead of time for any answers

Think previously stated no bots, the only thing AI controlled will be base turrets.

You make this sound like it's nothing. Let me assure you - it is a major project. We've been researching AI support for quite a while, more in regards to a singleplayer campaign than co-op gameplay though, but still. At some point we'd like to dig deeper into AI support, but for now it's not our agenda - and will not be there for upcoming beta or full release.
It's simply a matter of limited ressources that are needed elsewhere at this time.

Hope this answers your question.

We had to screw with the engine so badly that the AI doesn't know wtf is going on anymore, and we don't have time to fix it now.

Actually I think its due to what AoP just posted:

It isn't like you can just *insert* an AI here and there, it seems the work and procedures are very time consuming. So like he said, no AI as of right now, but it is always an idea for the future.

I hope you're not earning your money with translations. Read what Defender wrote if you're actually interested in the truth.

I was referring to the single player AI which if I remember correctly got horribly confused by the MWLL assets.  Regardless, the point I was trying to make was that you need a full overhaul of the Crysis AI or a completely new one to make it work with the new assets.

Exactly, I don't even want stupid AI anyways, I would be more happy without it.

Well sadly as it may seem i've never been good at online for PC games,
I try but its either lag or my skills, but anyway having AI would be nice, i'm not looking
a complete campaign but more like multiplayer with bots. But hey thats just me.

I say: "anything that slows down release and development of the mod is disposable." Personally I will just be happy to play Multiplayer when the mod is released. If they ever manage to make a single player campaign, for me it will be a "hey, cool" moment but I would still devote alot more time to multiplayer and league play. (once some leagues are set up that is.)

AI would be great for a couple for thing, (like machinima and costum campaigns.) But i would like to be playing along time before they would finish the AI. (Except for base turrets, they are to handy not to have.)

He guys I switched from PC to Mac. Is there any way to play on the Mac?
If not, what do I have to do to bring a PC up to speed?
I have Mercs and the IS Clan disks.
What specs for a PC do I need?
BTW Sorry if this is the wrong thread, where can I go for this info?

I'm not really sure what you mean, but I'll try to answer:

This mod is for Crysis, not for Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries.
That means you need a Crysis DVD, not Mercs CDs.
And it hasn't been relesed yet, so you can't play it.
