why's that too much?
25 on the side, 120 on the front, 120 in the back, 90 in the back, 90 on top.
then there comes the main board fan, the HDD-Cage has another fan, the GPU has a Fan, the CPU has a fan, the PSU has 2 fans . .
11 Fans in one system.

x7 Case Fans - 120mm
x2 PSU fans
x2 GPU fans
x1 CPU cooler fan
x3 RAM cooler
x1 Northbridge cooler fan
x4 HD cooler bay fans
-----------------
20 total fans in this machine

Yes, it's a little loud, but I primarily play with headphones... or very loud over mid-field monitors.

The system actually throttles back pretty well using the fan controller, and I've given some serious thought to swapping out all of the 120mm fans with Scythe FDB fans (which are utterly silent).  It's just that $14/fan x 7 case fans is a tad much to lay out at the moment.

That's my system when I had the 9800gx2 and before I learned what cable management was. I have a GTX280 in it now.

Because you shouldn't need them, in fact it's fapping overkill... bet it sounds like a jet engine.   I used to go into all that modifying my case, liquid cooling overclocking ect, but then I grew up and realized that more fun could be had elsewhere for less money and less bother.  If I got a system that can run all the games I play comfortably (yes that includes crysis @ 35fps) and cost less than 600 to make and doesn't sound like a truck is passing my house then all the better :P

nope.
the only REALLY loud thing is the 4870x2, if i overrule the automatic fan control and set it up to 100% manually . .
but then, it's louder than the 4 lane street on the other side of my window . .

why would you override the auto-fan control on the ATI, it runs perfectly on auto.

if 70° CELSIUS is perfectly fine on auto in your eyes, sure . .
i only do that when i am not in the room anyway, to get it to cool down after gaming . .
while playing, it goes up to about 110° Celsius on occassion, then i go to the tub, let the fan run at 100% for an hour i come back and it's at about 30 to 40°

I would piddle myself if my GPUs got that hot.  Even under max load they don't go above 75'C, and they tend to idle around 55'C.  My system CPU idles around 37'C and under load barely breaks 50'C.

110'C is just asking for premature failure of your equipment.
