Which Mechwarrior was it?
« on: April 27, 2009, 02:56:14 AM »
I remember my first time playing a Mechwarrior game but I can't remember which one it was. Yes I know I fail as a fan. Hopefully someone can help me. I remember it telling me to pick a mech and standing in a boxed area. It began with the moving around, basic forward back torso twist then moving to a checkpoint. Helpful no probably not but getting to something maybe. I had to use my weapons individually on tanks and then the alpha strike. At the end of training we were attacked by an enemy mech. Had to go and hunt it down. Sorry not very helpful was a while and now I can't figure it out, please help this poor soul.

Pick a mech?  That indeed sounds like MW2.  I think you could pick a commando or a panther to begin with.  Either way MW3 and MW4 trainings did not allow you to pick mechs.

I don't even remember Commandos being in MW2 at least the original and Ghost Bears.  You were a Clanner so it's unlikely you'd be using IS designs.  I can't remember the mech line up in MW2:Mercs.

I was referring to Mercs then.  I remember that one the best.  Didn't play much of MW2 and GB, but I was all over mercs.

Mech 4 vengeance. Or maybe mw4 mercs, the two training tutorials were similar, except veng was in a desert and mercs was in a jungle.

Did you know you could go through the training bounds and run through the whole map destroying all the buildings, airplanes, hummers, and mechs as they were going about their own business? I even ran one of the people on the ground off the training complex into the desert, and then off the map by chasing him ;D

There was stuff going on all over the place, I saw a vulture walking around and followed it for a bit. It eventually stopped just standing behind a mesa, I then pushed it back to the base. I think there were 5 or so mechs scattered here and there. Did a lot of exploring, was a pretty fun map with all those scripts running.

I chuckled thinking, that was the tutorial on nearly every mech game.  It would be more help if you told of the opening video.

In MW2:Mercs you start out as either a) a Mercenary or b) a Mercenary Commander.
Ones inside the game you enter the Command Central? and in the Terminal you can create a New account and after that you can Boar the Dropship and here (the fun begins if you are a Commander) three menus (Ine are available as a Mercenary, five as a Mercenary Commander)
The first Mission is a monotone Goto-to-Navpoint Mission. In both game types, however, the Player start out with the COM-7X Commando.
