SD's community manager badman announced in his dev blog that the open beta client will be receiving a small update next  week.

 Most important info:

- Bots will be helping out filling up servers, this will allow a first glimpse at the AI, created by AI-wizard John “Maleficus” Dean from id software

- a new map will most likely NOT be included in this patch

- the client internal auto-updating system will take care of the update, you won't have to download another 850 MB client

- hit detection will be improved, first lag-compensation features have been impl. .. .

They don't confuse game servers with insane-graphics-chatrooms.

Hopefully they will do like CSS bots and leave the server when a human player tries to join... ;)

I would definitely expect that. For every player that joins, a bot leaves.

The patch IMO is a pretty lousy one. With Punk Buster enabled, it has a tendency to kick random people for random PB errors. With that in mind, I'm seeing less and less players in servers! When I first installed the patch, I was getting kicked after 2 minutes of getting over 5 kills! It really annoyed me until I went forum whoring around to see what I could do to fix it. I followed some links to get here to the punk buster site and downloaded their stupid program to update the ET:QW PB. If you're getting the same random kick bug in game, go here and download.

http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

After install, add ET:QW and check for updates again and delete all the random punkbuster html files that get put on your desktop. This fixed my problems with the punk buster kicking. However I think with this major bug, SD may be driving more people away than bringing in....

The patch itself is nothing special. Hit detection is better I admit, but what they should of fixed was the vehicle handling! I mean they stressed in their QuakeCon that their vehicles were a big highlight in their game and how there's component damage and handling and stuff. Well WTF? The Tank can climb trees and bounces around like a toy car! Also the twitching in the Cyclops is extremely annoying! I think the only vehicle they got right is the Strogg Hover Tank.

And I still have yet to play against any bots... :-[

Don't waste your time.
It's as disappointing as it sounds.
I played against a few bots on one of the MyIS servers and didn't see any taunting, any teabagging etc. and they weren't too clever either.
