Welcome to the fourth weekly update for April/May of 2009, presented by the team of the Crysis total conversion modification MECHWARRIOR: LIVING LEGENDS.

April has come to an end and the team yet again has interesting progress to report - and teases with developments that we can not yet talk about. In today's update we're presenting to you the four variants of the Bushwacker you'll be able to use in MWLL's first release, a status update on the SA_Marshes map and definitely one of the best playtest impressions ever.

Four variants: Inner Sphere BUSHWACKER

Unlike last week's two featured Mechs - the Owens and the Awesome - the Inner Sphere's Bushwacker is still waiting for his shiny new clothes to arrive. However, it is in game already and the screenshot below introduces to you the four versions currently implemented.

Progress: SA_Marshes

The Solaris Arena swamp-style map SA_Marshes has experienced  major improvements since the last screenshots. Its creator -OM-Sanyassi spent a lot of time on the airfield which is more and more turning out to be the real hot combat zone in this foggy, steamy place. Check out the panorama impressions below!

While we're talking about maps for the Solaris Arena game mode, we'd like to draw your attention to the public poll we're currently running on our forums. We'd like to know which SolarisArena map you are most looking forward to?

Playtest impressions

Again, here are a few pictures from this week's playtest.

Thanatos in game! woo!

I like marhses alot, normally I prefer bright maps, but this is something new to the mechwarrior series, and it looks like the marshes will be a nasty place for battle armor to ambush mechs!

I am kinda suprised a bushwacker can handle 2 lrm15s and 2 erppcs... does that variant have huge heat issues, is it slower, or is its armor weak?

Hard for a Clanner to say, but I love the look of those Bushwackers. Maybe some IS pilot will leave one unattended so I can take a joyride. Everything is looking great. Nice battle scenes.

You have no idea how right you are. A group of a few Battlearmor are Viscious in the center of the map. Oh the horror.

If I ever play as a stravag freebirth I shall play in a Bush-C. Looks nice.

Looks astounding!  Is that a Thanatos mounting two gauss rifles?  *squee*

Seeing those trees made me think of something, how much environmental impact are weapons going to have?  Like missiles in MW3 made craters when they hit the ground and in MW4 the trees would just vaporize regardless of what hit them.  I guess my question is what can the weapons interact with and will there be different effects for different weapons?  (Like a laser cuts right through a tree so it falls over but a PPC just vaporizes it.)

And another question since we have been talking about skins.  Will the missile pods that generally have big flat sides pick up the color and textures of the mech its mounted on?  Most if not all of the ones shown so far are off color with no texture.

Great update guys. If there is one thing constant through all of the info media over the last couple of years, from the monthly newsletter to the daily screenshots to the now weekly updates, it is that the game just keeps looking and getting better. I think when the day comes for the beta release, i will be less patient waiting for the download to finish than i am actually waiting for the beta.

I also want to comment on the Atlas. Even though the classic skull face has gone by the wayside for this mod, I think the mech in this shot is impressive and forboding. Especially with this background.
