Where will this game be played online?

Is this mod going to be available through Steam or some other community? Pardon the ignorance as I'm sure this has already been covered.

We're currently investigating whether or not it is possible to distribute the mod through Steam, but for now this can not be confirmed.
If you want to play, you simply go to one of the download locations we specify upon release, download, launch and find games through the server browser.

Where will this game be played online?

In your office, living room, or wherever else you keep your computer.

I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself on that one.

I got Wars on steam and I run it at higher sets than crysis vanilla (I have Crysis CD) and get great ping online.

If Steam would host the mod itd sure boost the community, though Steam has only hosted a few mods, and all for source engine I think.

Crap, you're right. I suppose its still possible for people to keep computers in the house that arn't hooked up to the internet. Course I have forgotten what you do with a computer without an internet connection.  ;D

Crysis has an in-game server browser and (at least when I bought it) it comes with a free GameSpy account.  GameSpy may not be the greatest service out there, but at least it doesn't crash constantly, fapp with your account every time you get an update or delete all the servers off your favorites list like some *cough STEAM cough* other server browsers do.  Personally, I think this community is smart enough to figure out the in-game browser and sort on gametype to find MWLL servers all by themselves.

Unless the devs can somehow exploit Steam for exposure for their lovely mod, I don't see any reason to involve Steam with this in any way whatsoever.

Umm. I never understand why people hate on steam, Its not perfect but Steam\Valve their products and online support are pretty much the best out there. Ive only experienced better online service with blizzard, but Im not always as impressed with their products...

Steams never messed with my account. Steam has never caused crashes for me, and in fact my experience with Crysis online has been quite poor. Its hard to find a decent server, and lag is rampant.

I say if steam would support MWLL then thatd perhaps be the best way to distribute the mod. But like I mentioned before Im not sure they work with non source engine mod teams.

Steam is a lot better than it used to be, but I still remember when I bought HL2, and I couldn't play it for a week because the authentication servers were down. Every once in a while I run into something with Steam that really annoys me. Especially when I want to play a game on the day of release. Assassin's Creed was on store shelves for 2 days before Steam unlocked the game for everyone else. Last week it was the automatic update to Empire: Total War. The Automatically applied patch broke my saved game, and you don't have the option to go back to the previous version.

So I understand the hatred for Steam, but if you're going to be playing a multiplayer online game, it sure beats the heck out of Gamespy or similar services.

I agree with the crysis part, its hard to find a good one. Thats why i pretty much only play on TLL Matchbox, even before I joined up. Its pretty nice having very little lag and people from the forum hangin there with you. It gets a little empty sometimes but people usually join if theres one or two people there.
