lol darn that steel batallion set up would be neat.. Hmm very nice the X52 Flight System controller.. I'll have to wait for MWLL to come out before I buy it, as MWLL (or Allegiance) will be all I'd get it for, and its only 85 bucks from amazon.. Hmmm..

Can you tell me more about its reliability problems?

I have had no personal experience with it, keep that in mind.  I was researching it because I wanted to use it for LL and the leading complaint was longevity.  Reviewers said that after a year or so the accuracy of the joystick got really sloppy and the spring, while great when working correctly, started to jam up and get loose.  No complaints on the throttle.

I'll probably still get one though, because I think that would be the ultimate controller for a mech save the Steel Battalion gizmo.

Good old sidewinder 2 or a sheik stick i think are the best!
the more simple the better the stick and cheaper the better cause you know it will brake soon enough!  :o

I have rebuild so many joysticks its not even funny. I rebuild my original Gravis Phoenix 4 times before I had to pronounce it dead durring my carreer in MW2 NBT.

Logitechs I have found do not stand up to the abuse.

My MS Sidewinder 2 is still going strong, and I still have a Phoenix Gravis in Mint Condition that I am holding on to.

If you get one of the X52's, Gently take it apart when it dies and see if you can find replacement springs. You would be amazed at some of the tweaks and tricks you can do with a JStick.

My room mate has a Saitek X52 (he spends money a bit more wantonly than I do). He puts it through a lot of heavy use in BF2, as well as a number of other flying games, and it's still working fine 3+ years later. Personally I always thought the main stick was too floaty and in need of a heavier spring, and the throttle is a bit too stiff for my tastes. It is otherwise a highly functional joystick and my roomie likes it. It has always seemed, though, a bit... insubstantial to me.

Me, I'm happy enough with my Logitech Wingman Extreme 3D. The spring tension on the main stick is just right, and the throw and response rate on the twist is perfect. Additionally, the throw on the throttle may not be very long, but it is still plenty long enough, smooth and very precise, and between my left thumb and forefinger on the throttle and my other three fingers on the other base buttons, I don't ever have to take my hands off the joystick and get smooth, precise control of whatever vehicle I'm in: I've used it it in helicopters, planes, tanks, even cars, all to great effect, and I can recommend it highly.

I had the Wingman Extreme 3D, but it started free floating to the right all the time in MW4, I used it for about a year as it did this and still managed to kick down virtually everyone, great joystick just it kinda busted on me and I could never fix it.. And I had either  Thrustmater or a Side winder that did the same thing before it, except it was so bad I had to replace it instantly which is why I got the WIngman Extreme 3D, but the Freedom 2.4 is amazing so far, I want to get the wired one like you got man but even though its wireless it lasts for ages.
