Will there be an elemental hijack system?
I sure as hell hope not.

It was almost as ridiculous as the idea of a powerup that mech could walk over.

Anyway couldn't you just lock the door or canopy?  For a elemental to get through to it would require it to blast a hole through. Which on anything except the lightest mechs take awhile with a small laser :P

Don't all the cockpits have the same amount of armor no matter what the tonnage?  And wasn't that like 27 points or something?  Wouldn't taker that long to get through, and that pilot couldn't do anything aside from try and get one of his lancemates shoot the battle armor off if they were close.

IIRC Lights and some meds 6 points of cockpit armour, some heavies and assaults 9 points of cockpit armour.  Some 'mechs the cockpit was more heavily defended than arms or torso (I think a commando had 4 in arms and 6 in torso or thereabouts).

All that is right, but you don't need to destroy the whole cockpit (...6 points of cockpit armour, some heavies and assaults 9 points of cockpit armour...), you only need to open a hole with the laser or the claw, and then shoot the pilot or kill him by any method.

You only have to hit one specific location and do critical damage.
In a game of MegaMek i once felled an awesome in the first fire round with an Centurion.
How? The centurion had on his arm an LB-X5 AC. Rolls, hits, one Sliver of Cluster Ammo hit.
Hits head.
Gets Critical.
Location: Standard Cockpit: The one Location you do need to hit.
Effect: HEAD RIPPED OFF! MECH DESTROYED!
One point, only ONE POINT of Damage. On a Mech that can take more Punishment than some 100t Mechs . .

Well, don't.
The RNG is perfectly random.
We looked over the Code after that and did not find anything wrong with it . .
Still, 8 Medium lasers, Target number 4, 8 times a 3 . . you DO start to think something is up <.<

yeah, dice aren't much better. i was piloting a new Cerebrus in a 2v2 battle and my freind uses an rac. first shot gets a critical and hits my engine housing........twice. first shot in the game. suffice to say it was pretty hot for the rest of the round

in hindsight i am starting to beleive that shooting my engineers would actually be profitable ;)

Seeing as this topic has gone back and forth in range of discussion I thought I would ask a question. If killing/disarming mechs gives c-bills, what does a BA that is clearly going to get the kill on a mech get when the pilot just punches out? If punching out ends up making it so the BA would not get the kill then being BA seems rather pointless. I see BAs having low kills and high deaths, with little c-bill/rank upgrades during the progression of the game, which means that if someone in BA does manage to play well and win against a mech, but the pilot ejects, the person in the BA should still be rewarded. Is there a system that will be ensuring that there is no abuse of the c-bill/rank system by ejecting so your enemy does not get a kill credit?

I believe it's been said that there will be a reward system for damage done. So,if a BA (or any other unit for that matter) does enough damage to another unit,a mech in this case, then the BA will "get credit for the kill" so to speak in the form of c-bills paid. While the BA may not actually get the kill count if the mech pilot punches out,he or she will still get the money for doing the damage to the mech.At least that's how I think it works.

Might work like some MMORPG where XP is awarded for the %of the damage done to the enemy, so If something gives 100xp, and you've done 65% damage on him and one of your teammate did the other 35%, you'll get about 65% of the xp, and your teammate will get 35%, Might get a little bit more for the finishing blow, and might also get some xp (c-bill) for the "Assist".
This prevent "abuse" of steal killing, but yet still reward teamwork.

You might also simply get C-bill simply for damaging an enemy, no need to get it killed, since there is no "healt/Armor regeneration" system in MWLL like you can find in most recent FPS (CoD, Red Faction, Gears of War etc).

yeah i THINK its been said that you get C-Bills for the kill and destroying the mech/tank/etc so if they punch out you can say w/e and destroy their asset and still get to reap most of the rewards. you do lose a little for not killing though --- if i remember correctly

on a topic note, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NO BA HIJACKS! *huddles in corner mumbling something about MA2 while in fetal position*
