mortars for BA?
« on: May 28, 2009, 06:38:41 AM »
in the future will the  BA's have more weapons to use? like  er micro lasers, flamers, mortar?

i thought the way the battlearmor in MA funtioned the mortar was cool just the auto locking weapons  and upgrades and no custom mechs sucked along with the stroy. i mean its canon after all  for Ba's to mount those. BA's in BT can mount there own type of  ppc's and guss rifles. and clan er micro lasers.

A mortar would be easy to dodge as an battlearmor, and ineffective against mechs and vehicles so I dont see the point in ones inclusion, a mortar is really anti conventional infantry.

Your going to have an SRM2 on your shoulders as either side, that should fulfill your explosive needs.

Manpack PPCs and stuff are in IIRC.

Doesn't that depend on the size of the mortar? Since this is a game based on fiction, I see no problem with mortars doing damage to mechs. I'm neutral to the idea myself. Mortars might be neat, but I'm not sure they would add a whole lot to the game.

Battle armor lobbing mortars reminds me of the Heavy armor in Tribes.

I've seen in some of the videos that the BA had some sort of energy weapon, in the latest one at least. It was when someone jumped up, then shot and killed someone below them, it looked like a gauss rifle effect, except MUCH less destructive, I'm sure. I also saw in the other video, an earlier one, that they had some sort of ballistic-like weaponry.

If you look at the media gallery, one of the advent calenders had the "BA Paradise" picture. It was taken in some sort of bunker, and had weapons lined up against the wall, in racks. I think that shot was somewhere in the range of Calender 80-95. Or something.

I can't view pictures for some reason on this computer, I guess the school computers blocked it...somehow I can still log in and whatever. Maybe IE is just acting up. If it works, I will try to find it, and link you to it.

I'm neutral to it as well, but I think you would have to sub something on the battle armor to acquire the mortar, that's just my opinion.

I wouldn't mind seeing some tanks outfitted with Longtom artillery. Especially if you could get a tac-map feed from a Tag laser pinpointing the target.

will the claw be able to do some damage to the enemy? or will it ONLY be for latching on to friendlies an/or the cockpit of enemy mechs?

(Personally I think it would be funny if a BA latched onto an enemy transport aircraft without the pilot noticing, then ripping it apart midair. :P Probably bad for the BA, but good if you can take out the people in the transport)

Now THAT is a screen shot we need to see. Elemental hanging from the underside of a Karnov planting a C8 charge.

You can latch onto friendlies/enemies AND do damage by pressing the Melee key while attached.

Is it stainless steel? And what kind of cheese will we be allowed to carry?

It's Ferrofiber. Cheese types have yet to be finalized and will be included post-release alongside other updates as creating and properly balancing the cheese archetypes is a time-consuming and meticulous process that is under firm review to make sure no particular cheese is overpowered.

I can officially confirm that we will be leaving out Limburger Cheese due to its severely overpowered nature. It does not fit into the balance and gameplay we see fit.

No Limburger?! This is not possible, my plan has been sabotaged! I was planning on sticking some C-Limburger to a 'mech, and obliteratingz it.

my plan is to make cottage cheese o' bombs, and tossing them into vehicles thus forcing the pilot to eject due to sever stinage
