props to sherrel for kicking ass on atlas, looks amazing (just gotta fix up those smooth groups on all the new mechs :S haha).  great job to shadowkiller and others for making a sweet looking animated sky.  very nice screenshots this week!  love em.

I don't usually make comments about how good the mod is looking because it is all great, but that video of Extremity was absolutely amazing.  It really made me feel like I was on an asteroid spinning through space just watching it on my YouTube, so I can't imagine how immersive it will feel to play in.

These last two weeks have just been amazing, you've really shown off the incredible quality you are aiming for, no wonder its taken a while to get this far!

Simply staggering stuff, i wouldn't expect much better from a fully funded and published game.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one.  I have seen a lot of developers produce less impressive graphics, and even Crysis does not match that skybox.

In the right conditions, volunteer projects are much better quality than commercial releases. LL so far has had the right conditions :)

And fix the gaping hole in the back of the atlas's head?  (every single source I've seen, I've never seen a completely clear glass cockpit aka battlemaster type on the atlas.)  And whilst we are talking about smoothing groups, did you mirror the UV's up (to save texture space) on the third from right shot of the atlast around the pelvic area (where the 'shlong' would be :P) it looks like the normal mapping/texture gets a bit weird/missaligned which is usually due to mirroed UV's in the normal map (but also can be a trick of lighting) and the other shots the area is not highlighted so you can't see it very well.

hrm, sorry so used to giving feedback and constructive crits on work i get carried away.

Just out of interest how many maps you use for an entire mech and at what resolution?

the minute you can come up with something even close to what Sherell is able to achieve i'll answer your question. You should think really hard about critiquing artists assets that are much better then you can hope to achieve. Small errors like the normal map smoothing, which consequently, is not related to smoothing groups on the low poly are so trivial. Post some of your work before critiquing others in such a rude way.

I think overal the look is excellent I was just posting errors I could actually see.  The thread is about feedback right?  I didn't realise I had to post my own work before I could crit anyone elses.    If I was being rude I'd just say it was crap and I've seen tons better (which of course I wouldn't) but I think you are being overly defensive.  I can post some of my traditional art and texture work if you really want so you can pick holes all you like?

Have to agree, if someone is giving feedback, you should welcome it.
The only reason anyone posts negative feedback is because they want to help.

Is nice, but it really doesn't help.

It's much easier not to post and let the problem be that say "Hey I want this mod to be the best it can be, I'll help out where I can and point out small mistakes, hopefully the Devs will fix it."

Perhaps i misread your post :) We do appreciate feedback of course which you can read all over the forums. I get pissy when i read nonconstructive crits, which i was fairly certain i was seeing but, obviously, i was wrong. My apologies for jumping all over you, especially, if you just meant well ;)
