About 10 (maybe less) years ago my stepbrother had an old mac and when he came in town we would always play this game on it. It was a top view space action/RPG game. There where two universes, classic and newer expansion one. In the latter you would start on Sol in the middle of Human space and go around to different planets and do missions. You could buy new ships, weapons, and equipment and eventually could travel to other solar systems and whatnot in the galaxy to alien planets. There was maybe 5 different races and they all had different ships and weapons. A few i can remember where like the "zigidar" and their rivals the "izigidar". You could choose which to befriend, and then the others wouldn't like you, then you would do missions for them etc.
The other mode was in an earlier time when there where different human factions and in the end you fought unknown alien invaders during a first contact situation. I didn't like this mode as much and never really played it, so i don't remember much else.
It was really awesome at the time because of it's depth. the name was ____ overdrive or something.
Anyways, ever since my stepbrother moved away about 8 years ago, i have been looking for this game off and on.
He use to say it was only for mac but I am not sure if that is true. I figured I'd ask you guys and see if any old mac owners have ever heard of or played this game or something similar.
