That DOES raise an interesting point:
If you are tagged, do missles hit you where you are tagged, or just somehwere close to the tag-point?
tagging someones head and then unloading 20 LRM's would be insta-kill . .
'any kind of discussion of randomness ALWAYS WILL EQUATE to being able to critically hit a mech's reactor by firing a micro beam laser while facing 80 degrees to the side, shooting the ground, which would cause a random explosion which would randomly crit his entire team's reactors which would randomly cause the server itself to explode which would randomly generate a strange quark which would randomly hit the earth and randomly randomness randomfapp the shit fapp random!'

Does that mean that MWLL won't have fps style hitboxes and twitch style crosshair aiming? That if you hit a mech a dice roll will determine what you hit and where?

It does. Its just that weapons fire straight from where their mounted* and have an "accuracy cone" now as opposed to the previous mechwarrior games where all direct fire weapons on a mech always have perfect accuracy and converge at where you aim.

Ouch, the Kodiak is going to do madness damage to people with two clusters of 4x ER Medium Lasers hitting. I like it, it's similar to my suggestion of weapon mount pips on the reticule without cluttering it up. Maybe now weapon groups will be based on group mounts in addition to by type. Can't wait to ripple fire PPCs into people with an Awesome, keep them wobbly and concentrate that fire on the location of my choice.

Well missiles will have their own cone of hit success like the other weapons, it's probably larger than that of a laser or any other direct fire weapon.  So you're probably looking at more of a spread of damage in a radius around the tagged area.

No, it will stay like that.
It only works up to the same reach your missles can fly.
if you have arrow on a mech with SRM only, well, 120m is still maximum. \

FTW :)

Should also make arms much more appealing targets (rip them off before their convergence kills you).

Would be great to have different shaped reticules for the arms and torso weapons, moving as they readjust to movement etc Ironman style  8)  Can't wait to fire the Awesomes arm PPCs into an opponents CT then shimmy the torso left and right as I fire the Torso PPCs to help guide them into the chrunchy reactor goodness  ;D
