Welcome to this issue of the Weekly Update by MechWarrior: Living Legends, a Crysis total conversion modification. The delayed release and huge content make this update issue thirteen and fourteen, covering the first two weeks in July.

July is a already a few days old and development is still going at a steady and pretty high pace. This week, we've got something for you that has been demanded for quite some time: actual gameplay footage. The trailer, named "Walking With Giants&quots, brings to you three and a half minutes of unedited, unscripted actual gameplay straight from the team's weekly playtests.

Trailer: Walking With Giants

More than three minutes of gameplay footage with music from the talented hands of Mike Jennings from Sunpost Music. Enjoy!

This video can be watched on Veoh.com or Youtube (including HD-version!)

Playtest Impressions

Again, here are a few pictures from this week's playtest.

Everything looks fantastic! Great work, and I did notice the "Coming 2009" at the end. Keep up the good work!

Only one criticism, and normally I hate doing this, but, the 'Mech animations look like they don't really have any weight to them. Might just be me.

i love the environments and the weapon effects are very nice.

well, regarding the animations .. i bet it's really hard to simulate mass inertia
about torso twist speed: will this be different from mech to mech?

The mechs in every game thus far haven't shown any real weight when running/walking. Please, quit nit picking so the guys won't worry about this little insignificance and release the game. Air sims don't show turbulence with the plane's constantly bouncing up and down 100s of feet. I know that is a weak analogy, but when it boils down to it, do you really care if the mech you're targeting looks heavy?

Two words: Hell yeah

This video has everything: lasers, autocannons, machine guns, explosions, awesome environments (the ice breaking up was absolutely awesome to watch, dunno how bad it'll lag though) and more.

I have to say, the screenshots just don't do the game justice like videos do. Absolutely fantastic, keep up the awesome work! I'll be in line with everyone else who just watched that video to download the first release.

Oh and by the way, despite the hate that the animations seem to be receiving from everyone on youtube I think they are superb considering what you guys started with and the circumstances you are bound by. Excellent, excellent job making those walking animations seem plausible and smooth - they're absolutely fantastic.

Awesome as usual, but here are a little nitpicks:

1) The walking animations make it look like the mechs have no weight on them, I suggest making the upper part of the mechs bob up and down a little with each footstep.

2) When the torsos are turning, they seem to do it too fast and sudden that again makes it looks like they have no weight, I suggest perhaps slowing them down a little.

Apart from that, I love it! Amazing weapon effects and explosions, the models and maps look to the utmost highest quality.

Again, I don't like nitpicking, but that's what the community is for right? ;)

In a groundbreaking new feature, MWLL will include a new gametype: MechRockerBandHeroKersplosion.  Pilots will smash the throttle to classic 80's speed metal using custom ethernet plugin to real guitars.  PPC's will be triggered by power chords, and LRM ammo is selected by playing one of 17 distinctive hammer-on rifts.  Get a teammate elemental to hop up on your mech's shoulder and throw up the horns, and with a hot duel you can deflect enemy fire BY THE POWER OF YOUR ROCK!

It's great to see your kids finally have taken their first steps (I couldn't resist... ;) )
The action looks very intense, I really liked it.

Only thing, as other peope already mentioned, I miss a whipping when the mechs walk to add some dynamics. But then, this game isn't even finished, is it?

I like how Extremity looks alive with all those environment animations. The ice breaking up is superb. That's the way to go!
The desert level could use more animated environment stuff as it looks a little bit static right now.
The Marshes look really cool and the lava level is pure materialized sexyness! Does the hot environment have an impact on the heat management of the vehicles? Does the lava damage? ^^

Last but not least, I really appreciated the little battletech decoration stuff like the Clan Wolf heads and I clearly have to anounce: Keep adding them, I like it! :)
I've been waiting for a long time, for this moment to come.
I'm destined for anything...at all.

I actually DIDNT like how in MW4 the mechs wobbled all around when they ran, it made them look smaller. Only gripe I have is that the light mechs dont pick up their feet enough when they run, they just walk really really fast! Other than that the anims on the mad cat bros, the whammy, atlas, awesome, and catapult all looked great.

Effects look stunning, this game looks INTENSE!

Great to see the video, thanks!

I appreciate all the work you guys are doing, and so please don't take the following suggestion as anything more than audience feedback.

The Mechs look to me as if they're moving too quickly, and this in turn makes them seem less 'hulking war machine' and more toylike in nature.   Slowing them down a bit might get the feel a little more in line with physics as we know it :)

(Their feet don't seem to be having any impact on the ground either?)

On the upside, really awesome environments and models.

Again, all of the above is intended to be helpful encouragement.   More power to the devs!

Yeah. They're very heavy machine... but looks quick & no weight.

Devs, please check mech's animation in mech games. There are many sample video on youtube.

Camera & Cockpit movement is important, too. :D

Wow that video is ja fantastic! Could it be that everything is "speed up" like "fast forward" ? This would explain "to fast" torso movement and walking.

VERY nice 1 1/2 front gainer into the explosion pool at the 1:24 mark! Shadowing on the sands was good as well. Looking forward to more footage soon.
I can’t promise that if you choose to fight, that there will ever be a victory, or a day that we can step down and say our work is finished. All that we may ever accomplish is to keep the darkness at bay, and hope that we don’t lose ourselves in the process. Maybe that is futile, maybe that is a losing battle. And maybe we are just delaying the inevitable.

But if by doing so I buy myself one more day…one more moment…here, with the people who matter…Then it has all been worth it.

Our lives are the sum total of thousand of choices. And the burden of that freedom is sometimes too much to bear. But you won’t have to do it alone anymore. We will find a better way.

Together.

Overall... AMAZING! the terrain looked awesome and had some great detailing(is that moss on the dropship or dirt?) but yeah the the way they walked really broke the illusion and reminds you that their floats. The only other thing that worried me was the fight between 1:22 and 1:28, was that done on purpose? because it doesn't look right to see a mech flying threw the air(or lack their of) like that. Plus it may cause trouble if when u destroy a mech it becomes a several ton grenade flying in your direction. Other than those two things everything looks great, love the weapons fire effects, great work!

Oh yeah i forgot to mention, don't kill me!(hides under table) this isn't criticism!, just my personal worries.
