Yeah the Owen's animations look spot on. A few look .. not right.

I figured they weren't finished with their animations.

The maps themselves look epic.

I gotta say 2:04...wow the lighting in that level (I suspect it's Extremity) is just plain creepy...

Loved the video, the walking animations bugged me a little, but I could give a damn about that for the sake of better gameplay. Watched this on youtube this morning, and wow there are a lot of haters on there "Mechwarrior 5 will be better" "The Atlas sucks ass" "The mechs are walking with a stick up there ass" They don't know what they're saying. Seeing the Atlas in the video I was actually quite impressed with it, I know it's gotten a lot of flack for having the glass cockpit, but comparing it to the new Mechwarrior game's Atlas which looks as if the cockpit is made out of bone, I'd pick MWLL's any day. Keep on keeping on.

Hi !!

Sry when i say this but since the beginning of this mod i knew that there will be bad animations on the mechs. The graphic look fantastic but the animations are not really good.
I saw the Owen in the video...the animation on this mech looks better...why ? Couldn't Crytek help you with some animations or is it not possible with the engine ?

I know you work hard on this mod but i cant excuse the bad animations :(  I wanna sit in a mech where u can realize how big it is and that could only be with the right animation.

I will play this mod though... and i hope won't be a game where ppl are camping behind a hill and jump and shoot then like in mw4...that was so crappy...

I do excuse my rude comment. It is shaping up nicely and I still want to play it.
When will full game/demo/beta be released?
We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

Because they're too stupid to be over-analytical, picky, pretentious assholes like "smart" people.

Well obviously the mech animations on some of the mechs aren't finished and obviously the devs know this. However, if you watch the Owens, he seems to have much better animation when walking. Probably since they mentioned he gets everything tested on him first. Anyways, I'm glad to finally see some gameplay with moving mechs, the levels look awesome, the effects look awesome (Holy shit to the breaking ice), and all the mechs are stupendous!!! Keep up the good work!

This is true.  Owens is the mech that tends to get stuff done to him "first", so his animations are much more polished than animations such as the cougar.

On that note, DO NOT expect the animations to be like MW4.  MW4's walking animations were totally cartoonish and silly, and totally unrealistic.  Notice how dull and boring it was in first person view.  It was perfectly smooth, with only slight bobs:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CW8Al1fH6g

There's no real shift, because the cockpit is faked and only has a shake applied to it.

Now on the other hand, check out the almost cartoonish 3rd person animations:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95ByTi4wrWw

Notice how much it shakes, bounces and moves.  It's 100% not in sync with the first person.  This wasn't a problem in the older games because the only time you saw third person constantly is if chose to play entirely in third person, and because the entire animation system was faked.

The problem with our mod is:

1.  Everything is real.  The cockpits are real, the players inside them are real, the view from the outside is real.  This means however much the outside moves, the inside (and the player) will move.  If it make it exactly like MW4, then it will be impossible to use the mechs.  There are ways though to add a "fakeness" to the inside cockpit/players/cameras, and make it so the torso doesn't bounce as much as the legs would (realistically speaking this would happen anyways due to shock absorption systems being inplace which previous MW games ignored because they didn't need to bother with such systems).  Plus other methods to make it so the mechs feel more fluid and yet are realistic.

2.  MWLL is entirely a first person game.  Sure you will be able to see other mechs but you won't have the ability to see your mech from the outside for long periods of time.

Just wanted to say :)

I don't presume to understand the mechanics behind crysis, but couldn't you make it like MW3, where the cockpit would move but the view would stay centered where your crosshairs were?

Well, you see,

In StarSiege, the HERCs ("mech") torso did not shift left to right at all. However, since StarSiege was a strictly 1st person game, there was really no need to make the external view do this, and a simple explanation is hydraulic balancing systems and articulated legs (in a running motion, articulated legs REALLY smooth it out). Of course, it bobbed up and down a bit, as well as the 1st person view doing the same up and down motion.

So I personally see no problem with leaving it how it is.
