Salvaging mechs?
« on: August 01, 2009, 11:15:15 PM »
I know this may be a tad bit out there but is there going to be any salvaging mechs for cash/mechs/weaponry/etc... (i know weaponry is currently fixed to 1base and 3 variants but for the full release?) ?

I know you're going for the joint ops, but I haven't heard anything about after/during combat operation salvaging like MechCommander

To my knowledge, no, there won't be any salvaging since there won't be any after action moments. 'Mechs will be bought with c-bills (crysis prestige, slightly modified).

I've read the FAQs, do you have more information on how mechs are bought, how you aquire c-bills, how they're carried over, what you spend them on, and what happens to your mech after combat?

how mechs are bought,

Via an ingame purchase screen like that from Crysis. Once full customisation is supported, the buy menu might look and feel different though.

how you aquire c-bills

Anything that contributes to your team's efforts earns you c-bills: destroying enemy vehicles or at least components are the most profitable activities of course.

how they're carried over,

Not at all. Each round is a new beginning and there is no persistency.

what you spend them on,

Vehicles, Mechs and BA weaponry and equipment.

and what happens to your mech after combat?

Each round is a new beginning: after combat is before combat and all start out with equal chances.

I dont think salvage would work...

Will everybody be able to purchase a mech from the start, or will we have to work our way up, earning money to buy better vehicles and mechs as we progress?

Right now everyone's able to buy certain variants of vehicles, aerospace and light Mechs but the whole point of the purchase system is indeed to have to rank up and earn more money to be able to afford the big guns.

In otherwords:

Nothing carrys over from the last game you played. Each round you start out with X C-bills. So realistically we will never see an atlas in the begining of a match right?

exactly ;D

But remember I saw it posted by Defender I believe that matches could go on for something like ten hours for an evenly opposed teams...but I figure after 30min an Atlas would be buyable, just because of the sheer destructive mayhem going on.

On another note would you get C-bills for assist kills?

In short in matters battle armor, aerospace and omnimech

Not necessarily. As said a couple of times, it is possible to pool money on one player, so if you can get enough people to donate c-bills to you, you might find yourself in an Fafnir, Atlas, Blood Asp or Kodiak at the beginning of the round.

The whole scoring system is very much being worked on at this time, so I can't comment on that. We'd certainly like to support this to further encourage teamplay, but as said a few posts earlier, c-bills are already being rewarded for destroying components on a vehicle or Mech which might at least have to suffice as an interim solution.
