Just finished downloading and updating. Crashes every time I try to load a character. Just my luck, nothing works for me  . Already tried one "solution" on SOE support page, going through the next now...

That's easy to fix dude. No worries.
I know a few people, including myself who've had that issue. All solved.

Just right-click the launcher on the desktop, go to properties, compatibility, and run in 95, 98 or XP mode. Whichever works for you. 95/98 works for me. I'm on Win7 x64.

I think something is up with my vid card. I tried changing the compatibility but now when i start the game the launch pad doesn't even work now. It is running but it does not show up on my screen and task manager shows it as non responsive.

I tried reinstalling with no avail and the same thing happens when i turn off compatibility. I looked on the support forums and someone with my exact vid card (GeForce 9800 GTS) and he is also having the exact same problems. So far no one has responded to him so i guess i'll keep trying things out.

Edit: Running without compatibility works now but i still crash when it finishes loading TR sanctuary.

Edit edit: Still won't work on my good comp, but i installed it on my old desktop i use to use without a hitch.

Did you check:

- Disable Visual Themes

- Disable Desktop Composition

- Disable display scaling on high DPI settings

- For these to work, it MUST be on Win95 compad mode.

Mine worked flawlessly after doing that for BOTH PLANETSIDE.EXE and LAUNCH PAD. VS: TheBigNoob. Application compatibility toolkit could help you root the problem and solve it for all others who have this problem, too.
